When you're born, your family members will look at you and say, "Oh she has her mom's smile" or "Oh look she has her daddy's eyes." Then you'll grow up. And it's likely that you'll look like one side of the family more so than the other, and if you're like me, you'll end up looking EXACTLY like your mother. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's a bad thing, I love that I look like my mom.
1. Your family can never seem to get your name right.
I mean, your mom's been around for longer so it makes sense that they remember hers, but come on guys. I'm new here, new is exciting. Please, take a second and think about it before calling me by my mother's name.
2. When in public, people ask if you're sisters
She finds it flattering, I find it confusing. Props to my mom for looking so young but the "no actually that's my mom" response can sometimes be slightly awkward.
3. You share clothing.
This can sometimes be cool because you can wear your mom's stuff. What's not cool about it is when you compliment the sweater your mom's wearing and she says "oh thanks it's yours." Well, no wonder I liked it so much.
4. Parent-teacher conferences are filled with annoying comments about your similarity.
Growing up, the day after parent-teacher conferences your teacher would always look at you and say, "I didn't even have to ask your mom what kid was hers!" Of course you didn't. How hilarious!
5. People can't tell which one of you is on the other end of the phone.
When you answer the phone, it takes your family members a few minutes to figure out which one of you is talking. Sometimes they don't figure it out and you carry out the whole conversation as if you're your mother.
7. You have the same ticks and mannerisms.
You look alike, you sound alike, it's no surprise you act alike too. So alike it can sometimes be freaky.
8. Strangers know exactly who you are.
"Oh you're Mary's kid! You look just like her, it's crazy! Nice to meet you." I'm sorry, what?
9. People think your grandma is your mom.
If you look just like your mom, she probably looks just like hers. It's a vicious cycle.
10. She's thankful for a daughter like you.
You're practically her clone, how could she not be?
11. She's your best friend.
Odds are if you look or sound alike, you act pretty similarly too, which makes you really close. A close relationship with your mom is one of the best assets you can have in life and lucky for you, it comes naturally.
