Being a biology major can be very challenging, and I think we all know these struggles way too well. Not only are we rushing from class to class, but time not spent in class consists of working on endless lab reports and studying for our numerous quizzes and tests.
1. "I can't, I have lab."
This is a phrase you find yourself uttering when asked to hang out. Sitting through numerous three-hour labs tends to take up a lot of time...
2. You are constantly questioning your mental health.
Taking six biology related courses can get pretty repetitive and exhausting. You don’t sleep. Your exams are never curved. You spend every day looking through microscopes, memorizing specific functions of organelles, and learning functional groups. Science has taken over your life, and you're a little crazy — but that's just the way you like it.
3. Every night seems to turn into an all-nighter.
So many formulas ... so little time.
4. Lab reports.
After a while, you run out of words ... starting a lab report the day that it is due is a bad idea isn't it?
5. There is nothing you hate more than chemistry.
You are already dreading having to take orgo and gen chem as part of you major requirements
6. You tend to be creative with the elements.
Who knew barium, silicon, carbon, bismuth, technetium, and hydrogen made such a useful phrase?
7. You have no tolerance for other majors complaining.
I mean, really?
8. Your lab partners end up being your best friends.
There's nothing more magical than bonding over pipettes, beakers, and microscopes.
9. "In the hood" has a completely different meaning.
10. Plants.
Remember that plant pigment lab that lasted for an entire month?
11. Scientific names.
“I'm just taking my Canis lupus familia out for a walk!”
