As many of you know, (unless you live under a rock), the Supreme Court ruled in favor of gay marriage on June 26, 2015 in the US. Most people were ecstatic, while others were not so thrilled. The few people in society that are narrow minded, believe, that this decision will cause detrimental effects to their heteronormative lifestyle.
So, I have taken it upon myself to research all side effects of legalizing gay marriage.
Gay couples can now…file income taxes jointly! They get to argue over money like any old married couple.

They are even allowed to have joint parenting rights! The horror of equal parental rights that gay couples now have along with those people who abandon their children for drugs and then demand it is their right to get their child back. The side effect of this is that more children will need to be adopted into loving homes. Nice going Congress! Who does Congress think they are providing loving and safe home environments for?

One of the most dangerous side effects of gay marriage is the ability to have next-of-kin status for emergency medical decisions. Now, instead of the fate of a gay woman on life support, being in the hands of her estranged father, her loving spouse of fifteen years can make the call.

Have the right to visit their partner in prison. When I was a little girl all I wanted was prison visitation rights equality for everyone. Look how far we’ve come.

Shared property rights and alimony after a divorce. Now gold digging heterosexual women can go shopping with gold digging homosexual men!

Another side effect of this epidemic is that gay people now have the right to qualify for domestic violence intervention. I don’t know about you, but I don’t sleep any differently or go through the day any differently now that all people of any sexuality have the right to be safe. But hey, I could be wrong. Comment below and tell me how this right that we deserve as human beings is disrupting your already socially acceptable lifestyle.

They also maintain the right to get time off work if their spouse passes away. Now, as a straight person myself, I don’t see how this directly affects me. But, for other straight people, if the gay people are taking time off for work, they will have to do their work for them! Gay marriage = working more! How will we beat our records on Tetris and update Facebook?

Also, they now have the right to refuse to testify against their partner in a court of law. I guess this could lead to cases being harder to prove, and more evidence needing to be maintained. I can see why some people are getting upset! Thanks to gay marriage, we will now have to thoroughly prove someone's guilt before sending them to prison. But hey, now they can visit their partner if they are found guilty!

Finally, the most deadly and horrifying side effect of gay marriage is… THEY ARE ALLOWED TO LOVE WHOEVER THEY WANT AND HAVE THAT LOVE RECOGNIZED. June 26 will be a day to go down in the history books! Here's just one example of this "side effect:" This is George Harris and Jack Evans! First gay couple married in Texas after being together for 54 years!

In all seriousness, gay marriage becoming legal was a long time coming and affects none of us in a negative way. Unless you are actually homosexual, bisexual or transsexual. I don’t even see how it affects you at all. I may have poked a little fun here, but honestly this law gives so many overdue rights to couples in the "LGBTQ" community. I can’t wait to see where we will be in 5, 10, or 50 years! I could not be more proud to live in a country where people of any race or sexual orientation all have the same rights. If any of these "side effects" bother you, move!
