I'm sick and tired of hearing "oh bless her heart but..." whispered in
the halls, reading hateful Facebook comments berating other believers
for a difference in opinion, and most of all, I'm sick of Christians
preaching love and forgiveness for all and not living it out, but instead damning others because they are blinded by their own sin.
radically that we are no longer heard or seen but only Jesus is. We are told that no one sin is greater than any other, lying is just as bad as stealing and gossip is just as bad as murder, so why are we treating people like they're untouchable and unlovable to us because they sin differently than we do?
I am disgusted by what we have become. How dare you, a sinner yourself, not call someone out privately in love, but publicly in contempt? How dare you condemn someone because they choose to use birth control? How can you with a clear conscience be okay with berating a single, unwed mother for her parenting choices or her choice to give up for adoption? How can you claim to represent Christ but are not loving people of different faiths, creeds, doctrines, or even your own brother in Christ? For a people that claim to be all about love, you do not reflect that love. Real love doesn't picket funerals, it doesn't refuse love to people just because they aren't the same skin color as you, or because you stand with a different opinion on abortion or a different political party.
As a Christian I do not want to be associated with the hatred that the name carries, because now it's no longer a hatred for the divine man that was Jesus, but a hatred for us as a judgemental, hypocritical, and unloving people group. I will gladly be persecuted for the name of Jesus. I will take the name calling, the slurs, and the attacks from non believers. I will gladly suffer and give up my life for Christ's name and His ministry.
However, I will not be persecuted for the action of so called "Christians" who attack other out of hatred. I will not stand name calling, slurs, and attacks from Christians who hate me for calling them out. I will not suffer and give up my life for a people group who dishonors Christ's name and ministry through their actions, words, and deeds. Christians, you are called to be of better stock than this.
You are called to embody the love that saved you from a spiritual, physical, and eternal death all those years ago. So for God's sake, pull it together and act like it.
