I was lucky enough to grow up with an older sister, I say as I chuckle. By saying this I am saying that I was lucky enough to have someone boss me around, lucky enough to have someone pull my hair and drag me up the stairs. I was lucky enough to have someone tell on me to my parents for saying a curse word. I was lucky enough to have someone tell EVERYONE about my first crush. She threw things at me and intruded on my friend and mine sleepovers. She poked fun at me and sometimes even put me in some dangerous situations.
She cried when I yelled “I hate you.”
She helped teach me how to drive. She drove me to all of my boyfriend’s houses, to the mall, and to the beach. She came into my room to tell me I should love myself when I was calling myself fat. She’s the person I lied to my parents for. She’s the person who scooped me out of my bed when my parents fought. She’s the person who took the trip back Pennsylvania to get my favorite stuffed animal. She the person I have wine nights with while I cry over boys and we watch Disney movies. She the person I’ll sit at the bar all night with and the person I call when I need to vent. She’s the person that stresses herself out to be at as many of my games as possible. She the person I do yoga with. She’s the person who makes family time feel complete. She’s the person I want to go on vacations with. She’s the person that continually opens her home to me. She was the first person at the hospital. She the person I got to roast at her wedding. She’s the only person I want standing next to me at mine.
Sister, thank you for always being there for me. I promise to always be there for you. I’ll stand besides you through all of the medical issues, through any financial trouble, and of course if that husband of yours gives you any trouble. I promise to meet you at the bar or anywhere whenever your feeling down or even just bored. I’ll always be your girl to call whenever you need a girl’s night and no one else will answer your group text. I promise I’ll lie to Mom and Dad or even Mike whenever you need me to. I promise to be the best aunt ever whenever you decide to bless this world with your children. I’ll drop anything at anytime if you need me. I love you!
