With the fourth season of "Orange Is The New Black" crushing spirits everywhere, it's sometimes nice to remember that there are other shows made specifically to make people happy. A feel-good show is the perfect way to brighten up your life; after all, laughter is the best medicine. Here's a list of shows and movies on Netflix that won't stomp on your hopes and dreams like the ending of "Marley and Me" or make you want to scream at the top of your lungs like you did when you watched the series finale of "Gossip Girl."
1. "Parks and Recreation"
While this show has often been criticized for being a spin-off of "The Office," "Parks and Recreation" truly stands on its own when it comes to humor and character development. Within the team of small town government workers, there is definitely a character for everyone. So if you love sassy one-liners, dry humor, awkwardly funny jokes or even miniature ponies, make sure you "treat yo self" to this amazing series.
2. "Bob's Burgers"
As someone who is not a big fan of animated sitcoms, I was extremely reluctant to watch this series. However, this show has entirely changed my mind as to the kind of content that can come through animated television. "Bob's Burgers" is filled with a bunch of different kinds of comedy and it is not super heavy on negativity like some other shows in the same genre. Whether you're a big fan of butts, the most normal one in your family or you just like punny burger names, make sure you check out this hilarious show!
3. "Bo Burnham: Make Happy"
If you like talking about real life problems while also being a sarcastic piece of crap, this one-hour comedy show is definitely for you. Bo Burnham addresses social and personal issues in a way that tells you that it's okay to laugh even when some things really suck. Also: there is music.
4. "Arrested Development"
This hilarious sitcom features a large cast of unique individuals. If you're a "Modern Family" fan, this series might be just what you've been looking for. While the fourth season aired three years ago, Netflix is rebooting the show with all new episodes in 2016! More episodes means more laughs! Make sure you check out "Arrested Development"
5. "Master of None"
While I'll admit that this show did hit me in the feels just a little bit, there is no denying that Aziz Ansari is a comedic genius. His Netflix Original Series is New York City as heck and definitely something any New Yorker can appreciate/laugh at. Watch "Master of None." Just do it.
6. "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt"
Another NYC-based show, "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" is about a woman's life post doomsday cult. Produced by Tina Fey, this Netflix Original is sure to make you laugh nonstop. You'll probably also have the theme song stuck in your head for the rest of your life. Side note: females are strong as hell.
