It's late at night and you are combing through Netflix. You just finished an amazing show and don't know what show to binge-watch next. HAVE NO FEAR! I have put together a list of the absolute must-watch shows on Netflix.
LET'S DIVE IN:
"Breaking Bad"
This is one of the best shows of all time. It is about a brilliant, overqualified chemistry teacher named Walter White. When Walt (Bryan Cranston) is diagnosed with cancer, he starts cooking crystal meth in order to make money for his family to have after he passes away. The whole story takes off from there. Bryan Cranston is one of the most phenomenal actors alive. He is the one who truly makes this show great. The actor who plays Jessie Pinkman, Walt’s sidekick of sorts, is Aaron Paul. Aaron’s portrayal of Jessie is just as brilliant. There are five seasons and 62 episodes. "Breaking Bad" aired its last episode in September 2013. It’s so good that I watched the whole show twice all the way through.
SO IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IT, FINISH READING THIS AND GO WATCH IT.
"Sons of Anarchy"
I may or may not have started watching "Sons" just because of how attractive Charlie Hunnam is...but once I got into it, I realized just how exceptional the show is.. It’s about a close-knit, outlaw biker gang in Northern California. Charlie Hunnam, who plays Jax Teller, is not only incredibly good looking, but incredibly talented as well. There are seven seasons and 95 episodes. The show aired it’s series finale in October 2014.
"Mad Men"
This show is an absolute, must-see classic. It centers around a successful ad agency in New York City during the 1960’s. The main character, Don Draper, is the creative genius of the company. The story really centers around his life and the people around him. Don is played brilliantly by Jon Hamm. (He’s quite a looker as well.) There are also strong leading ladies in this show, played by January Jones, Elizabeth Moss, and Christina Hendricks. Not only is the acting and story-line genius, but the costuming and sets are simply superb and right on target with the 1960’s. There are seven seasons and 92 episodes. "Mad Men" aired its series finale in May 2015.
"Parks and Recreation"
This show is without a doubt the funniest show that has ever existed. Amy Poehler, Chris Pratt, Nick Offerman, Aziz Ansari, Rob Lowe, Rashida Jones, Adam Scott, and Aubrey Plaza are the greatest cast ensemble. Every episode never fails to make me cry-laugh. The show centers around the ridiculous antics of a small town in Indiana’s Parks and Recreation bureau. There are seven seasons and 125 episodes. (Only six seasons are on Netflix.) The last episode aired in February 2015. Check this hilarious show out! You will not regret it.
" Scandal"
I just started this show a few days ago, and I am completely and totally hooked. It centers around a former White House Communications Director named Olivia Pope, played wonderfully by Kerry Washington. She left the White House to start her own crisis management firm where she tackles the most scandalous of situations, whilst also dealing with a few scandals in her own life. Every episode never fails to grip me. Can I just say TEAM FITZ AND OLIVIA?!
There are four seasons of "Scandal" on Netflix, and the fifth season is premiering on TV this month. I am so late to the party with this show, but I am so glad I hopped on the band-wagon. YOU SHOULD DO IT, TOO.
"American Horror Story"
"AHS" takes on a new and creepy theme each season, my favorite being season one, which takes place at "Murder House." Season two: "Asylum;" season three: "Coven;" season four: "Freak Show," and the newest season coming out this fall starring Lady Gaga is "American Horror Story: Hotel." Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, and Taissa Farmiga are just a few members that have been included throughout the seasons. This show is a must-see if you are a big horror-buff like myself.
"Orange Is the New Black"
This show is a given, since it is a Netflix Original. "OITNB" is one of my absolute favorites. Not only is it hilarious, but it also tackles important issues. Those being gay rights, transgender rights, women’s rights, and racism. This show is essentially the story of Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling), a privileged woman in her thirties who is thrown into jail for something she did in her past. Despite that, I think the real stars of this show are the supporting characters. Crazy Eyes (Uzo Aduba), Taystee (Danielle Brooks), Pennsatucky (Taryn Manning), Poussey (Samira Wiley), Red (Kate Mulgrew), Big Boo (Lea Delaria), Daya (Dashcha Polanco), Morello (Yael Stone), Nicky (Nastasha Lyonne), Sophia (Laverne Cox), and so many others, really make this show special. There are three seasons. Season four is to premiere next summer.
"House of Cards"
Three words: KEVIN. FREAKING. SPACEY. This man’s acting ability is un-real. He plays Congressman Frank Underwood. This dude is a master manipulator who will do whatever it takes to get to the top. What I love most about "House of Cards" is when Frank talks directly to the camera. Breaking the fourth wall like that is not something that happens in most shows. This Netflix Original always keeps you on your toes. There are three seasons of "House of Cards". Season 4 is expected this winter.
(This last gif is my favorite gif ever. It so totally says "bitch please.")
HAPPY BINGE-WATCHING.
