Shopping is something lots of people do, some enjoy shopping and others hate it. There is clothes shopping, grocery shopping and just shopping for anything that might interest someone like music or books. A lot of people today do shopping online you can even do grocery shopping online through websites like Amazon. Shopping is a common thing that lots of people do. There are also shoppers and the employees in the stores that help the shoppers. Being an employee means that you are around shoppers all the time and sometimes the employee can be the shopper themselves. Especially if they get a good employee discount! Of course there are differences between shoppers and employees in a store and they each have different points of views while shopping.
A sales associate folding a table full of t-shirts.
When a shopper sees a sales associate folding a table full of t-shirts or any type of clothes the shopper will most likely stand of to the side and wait until the associate is finished and moves on to another task. Even if the associate ask “Is there anything I can help you with?” the shopper with either say “No” and continue to wait or let the associate help them. The shopper probably want any help because they either want to find their own size so the associate does judge them based on their size or because they don’t want to have to try to have a conversation with the associate. Most likely the shopper will wait until the sales associate moves on to a different task and then dig through the t-shirts to find their size.
When an employee notices a customer standing to the side while they are folding a table they will ask if they need help but if the customer doesn’t want any help the associate will continue with their task and finish it then move on. But what drives an associate absolutely crazy is if they ask a customer for help and they refuse it and then once the associate walks away the customer messes up the folding the associate probably just spent fifteen to twenty minutes folding. It frustrates the associate because they could have helped the customer and kept the table organized instead they will have to do it again at a later point in time.
Getting frustrated with discounts and coupons.
Customers are always looking to save money. I mean of course they are who doesn’t want to save money? That’s why customers will have multiple coupons and make sure the prices are right because they are always looking to save some extra money. Sometimes though when its time to check out not everything comes out to the total the customer was hoping for. They ask the associate to double check the prices and make sure the coupons are working correctly. The customer might get frustrated the associate because the computer won’t take the coupon. It can get upsetting if the customer is spending more than they expected to.
The associate tries to help the customer they best they can but there is only so much an associate can do. But it doesn’t help if the customer blames the associate and yells at them. The associate can only do so much and help any way they can but sometimes its hard if a customer is blaming them and asking them do more than they have the privileged to do so.
There are different views of shopping when it comes to being a customer and being an employee in a store. The employee will see it from the work they are doing and how everything should be done and how systems are set up in stores. They see the full view of the store. When being a customer they only see some of what actually takes part in the store and how it is set up. They don’t see how the store is ran. They only see as much as they can. Being a customer and an associate are two different views of shopping and lets you see that not everything is how it seems.
