From the time you are a child, you are taught that sharing is caring. You start in kindergarten on the playground, sharing a toy. Then you share the swingset in elementary school. Then, there comes a time when the term sharing becomes more than that. You find a girl in your class and you share your biggest secrets with her, your crush's name, you share a bed during sleepovers. You find a person and you latch onto them, sometimes without even realizing it.
As we get older, we start to share deeper thoughts with the people that are close to us. We find those people that we trust more than anyone and they hear everything we think about. They become our person.
You convince yourself that you're going to be friends with those people forever. Why wouldn't you be? They know your secrets, they know what you love and who you love, what you hate and who you just can't stand. They know everything about you and you know everything about them. You know that they'll never leave you.
Sometimes though, that just isn't the case. That person that you never thought was never going to leave you begins to drift away from you. You don't text them about that guy you saw walk past you this morning anymore or call them to see if they want to binge watch movies because you had a long day. That person that you thought would always be there, just isn't anymore.
People come in and out of our lives to teach us lessons. Some never leave and some just have to drift away. They find someone else to be their person and you do too, but somewhere deep down you both know what you shared.
The sleepovers, the laugh until you cries, the ugly cries, the hugs (forced and not), the mini concerts in the car. That person will always share things with you. The time you spent together and all those little secrets you told each other, are priceless things that you shared with that person, that can't be undone. We share so many things with so many people. It really is true, sharing is caring.
