If I Could Have A Beer With Jesus, There Are 6 Things I Would Ask Him

Thomas Rhett had some good questions to ask Jesus if he ever got the chance, but I've got a few more to add.

If I Could Have A Beer With Jesus, There Are 6 Things I Would Ask Him

If you know me well enough, you know that I very rarely listen to country music. My music taste is really all over the place; Eminem, One Direction (my phase is still not quite over), my girl Cardi B, and even Bon Jovi. However, spending nearly a week with my cousins and their roommate, country music has definitely entered the playlist.

A debate sparked up between us on what the "best country song of all time" is, and it came down to Dierks Bentley's "People Are Crazy," and Thomas Rhett's "Beer With Jesus." I know Bentley's song by heart, but I had never heard Rhett's and hearing it for the first time left me speechless (a very hard thing to do).

The debate was settled and now every time I play my music, I make sure that song is one of the first to be played.

As this week approached, I had wondered what I would ask Jesus if I ever had the pleasure to have a drink with him. After a long night of thinking, I came up with a list of questions to ask.

1. Why do dogs, and animals in general, have such short lives?

We all know this would be my first question. The loss of my dog was one of the biggest struggles I had faced, so why couldn't he have lived just a little bit longer?

2. Why does cancer exist?

I couldn't imagine the gut-wrenching feeling of hearing the words, "You have cancer." I know of people, friends who have had to go through this and it breaks my heart. With all of the other diseases in this world, why do we have one that is incurable?

3. Have I made you proud?

I know that I've probably driven him crazy a few times in my life. I've probably made him laugh quite a bit too, but, it's much more important for me to know if I've made him proud in the life I am living.

4. When are you going to introduce me to my husband?

My mom has heard me ask both God and Jesus this question very frequently... more like daily, but who's keeping track? As I've mentioned before, I haven't had the best luck with guys (even though I already have my wedding planned), and I'm ready to finally meet the man he has made for me.

5. Can everyone in Heaven see everything happening on Earth?

Is it possible for my grandfather, my great grandparents and is it even possible for my dog to see what I'm doing on a daily basis? Or can they see me on the big days in my life, such as my graduation?

6. In the words of Thomas Rhett, "How'd you turn the other cheek to save a sorry soul like me?"

Everyone sins, and I am certainly no exception. I pray as often as I can for forgiveness from him; but how does he forgive sins so quickly?

I know that all of my questions will be answered at some point in time, whether it be next week, next year, or even after I go to Heaven. But, if I ever do get the pleasure to meet Jesus at a bar one late night, these are the questions I would be sure to ask him as long as I'm not completely speechless; who wouldn't be if Jesus was sitting right in front of them?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
