As we all know it is part of human nature to judge and asking someone to never judge is basically asking for the impossible. The problem though, isn't us judging, but it is what we as a society judge by. Go on Google and typed in the word "brown." Tell me what you see. It will probably be the exact same thing I would say when I saw it. What shows up is thousands of different shades of Brown but somehow as a society, we are able to view and categorize all of the colors as one simple thing- brown. Now here is a question for you. If we are able to view colors on Google, which are so different as a whole, why is it so difficult to do the same thing with the human race? We are all different, but in the end, we are all simply human beings. Why judge by appearance when what really matters is on the inside, what type of person you are? We are all original, so why hate when we can accept each other's differences? Get to know someone before we judge them on things that don't really matter.
Our problem in society today though is, in an odd way, the things which shouldn't matter do. Statistics show in NYC, 80 percent of police stops made were on Latinos and African Americans, according to dosomething.org. People say we are no longer judging by race, yet why is it then that racial prejudice increased 51 percent since Obama officially took office in 2009 (according to Daily Mail)? Color shouldn't matter, but it does. It is just astonishing how many people need to live and be on the lookout. In one Fusion article, the magazine stated how in America, 20 percent to 25 percent of all gay and lesbian people experience hate crimes within their lifetimes. Only a mere 2 percent of Americans stated that they had a lot of knowledge about Muslims and Islam, yet the crimes on Muslim Americans are still on the rise. Throughout the USA, these groups and many more have been targeted based on appearance, which doesn't matter. It has become such a problem, you can find a resource speaking about hate crimes nearly anywhere.
Ultimately, what I am trying to say is this- these crimes against humanity should not be occurring. People should not be hated or be mistreated based on how they look or are perceived. If we can view a color which varies in shades as the same, then why can't we view our own people, who vary in traits and shades as the same, as human beings?
