Any of you younger siblings out there cursed with an older sister, I'm here to tell you that under all of our "evil" ways, we are a bit softer. All we can say to justify our acts of "seniority" is that you'll thank us one day...but you probably won't. But we love you, and our pride gets in the way of that sometimes. These are seven phrases that I'm sure you've all heard come out of your big sister's snake-tongued mouth, but she didn't mean, or at least doesn't mean anymore.
"You're annoying."
Let's face it. You probably are. But we both know you know it, and when we yell at you for it and get in trouble for being "mean" to you, we also know that you are satisfied with yourself...
"I wish you were never born"
Sometimes you do things that make us truly think about life without you and your annoying and menacing ways... and find that imaginary world to be quite dull, and boring. Life with you may be more unbearable and just downright exhausting at times, but at least it's not boring.
"Don't push it."
One of our many empty threats. What the hell are we gonna do about it? And as you grew up the more apparent it became that big sis can't do sh*t, cause mom will protect her little angel, which leads me to my next phrase....
"Mom loves me more than you, I was born first."
Yeah, I was born first, but sometimes I wonder why I wasn't enough, which is something you never let me forget.
"You're stupid."
This is usually said when you say something funny, but somehow the words "you're funny" burn coming out, as do most any compliments. So "you're stupid" is our form of a compliment. Take it or leave it.
"I hate you."
I don't. I love you, more than you will ever know, and probably more than I'll ever show you. My dear dear little sibling, let me tell you now that your big sister is thankful for you. For ever annoyance, for every broken toy, embarrassing moment, and even the biggest fight, we've got each other, and you'll never lose me. We have shared the most important times of our lives together. We have grown together, and we have learned together. I can only hope that one day we will have kids and they will fight and argue and most importantly, love each other the way we do. Having each other is one of my most cherished blessings.
Now go show this to mom.
Love Always,
Your Big Sister.
