The new year is coming faster than you think, and this year is going to be your best year yet. When you set your goals and become discouraged so you don't follow them is one of the worst feelings. However, 2017 will be the year that we set some serious goals and accomplish them. Although at times you will feel discouraged, it's important to power through with whatever inspires you.

Why don't people keep up with their New Year Resolutions?

Author Ray Williams' article in Psychology Today stated, "Psychology professor Peter Herman and his colleagues have identified what they call the "false hope syndrome," which means their resolution is significantly unrealistic and out of alignment with their internal view of themselves. This principle reflects that of making positive affirmations. When you make positive affirmations about yourself that you don't really believe, the positive affirmations not only don't work, they can be damaging to your self-worth."

I know I have definitely been one to set these extremely difficult goals such as working out every day and having a strictly healthy eating regimen, but making such drastic changes to my life in such a short amount of time with no one to push me to do it made me feel that I could not accomplish those goals. I still found myself sitting at home watching Netflix and eating junk food. It's not because I didn't set any goals for myself, but that I made unrealistic ones and I didn't make a plan to follow them. It is necessary to have the big picture in mind, but it's even more important to follow up with a plan that you can actually work into your life. Working your New Year Resolutions into your life may simply be creating a to-do list for your day and implementing your goal into it.

This new year you can follow your resolutions because you will be better prepared. This upcoming year is a fresh start for you to become the best that you can be.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
