To My Senior Class

And this is the part where we cry...

To My Senior Class
Madison Doise

It's been a wild ride with you guys... There's been times when we've wanted to kill each other, but at the end of the day (or should I say year), we still love each other.

I wanted to write this article as a thank you to everyone in my senior class. Coming from someone who isn't a huge fan of high school, you all have made it a lot easier. I am so thankful that God put each one of you in my life for a unique purpose. I say "unique" because I don't think anyone could find a more diverse group of personalities. That's why we work. So, thank you.

Hannah

Girl, you're crazy sometimes, and I love that about you. You can say one thing and it completely changes the atmosphere. I am so glad you joined our small little group two years ago. I could tell you were a little nervous at first, but soon enough you fit right in. What I love most about you is that you don't have a judgmental bone if your body. Yes, you will defend yourself if needed, but you don't hold grudges. Nothing phases you, and that takes a lot of strength and dignity. For that, I look up to you as a person in general and as a friend. I love you so much, Hannah! Have fun at your LU and hopefully you will visit me at my LU.

Cody

Cody!! First of all, I just want to thank you for dealing with all of us girls (including Peyton). I know we are a lot to put up with, so good job for making it to the end. You don't speak much, but when you do, it cracks everyone up. You're hilarious and can make us laugh without even saying anything. Also, you're never in a bad mood! We need that in a group of emotional, moody girls. So, thank you for being awesome and I hope to hear you sing at graduation.

Evie

Guess what?? We're graduating this year!! It's crazy to think that I've known you since middle school, but we never really got close until high school. For that, I am so thankful you came to Grace. I love that you are such a genuine friend and person in general. No matter what happens, you will always stick by our side. You're humble, smart, honest, and kind. I will miss you so much when you go to Loyola! Like I said, you can always have Thanksgiving with us when we are down there. For now, let's finish out senior year strong. I love you!

Jasmine

I remember when you first came to Grace. You didn't speak a word. Now, you don't stop talking, haha! You have grown so much in the past few years, and I'm glad we've become so much closer. Through thick and thin, you are always there for us, and we are always there for you. I love your heart for people and how light-hearted you are. You are selfless by putting people first and thinking about their feelings over yours. I love how crazy, fun, and happy you have become, and I am so glad I got to see that unfold. Thank you for being you and being so open to everyone. I love you, girl!

Peyton

Where to start... I think I've known you for a little too long, haha. Every year it's been a 50/50 chance that you will come back to Grace, and we were always glad you came. Even though we bash your hair and laugh at you more than with you, it's all out of love. You are hilarious and always bring something joyful to the room. Thank you for being the one who breaks up the tension with a ridiculous joke, because we need that every once in a while. I will miss you next year!

Minna

Minna, you are one of the funniest people I know. I could literally look at you and we would crack up laughing over who knows what. I know if I'm in a bad mood you will always cheer me up, so thanks for that. On a serious note, I love how strong and kind you are. You have a real heart for people, and it shows. Every time you write each of us a Christmas letter or birthday note just for fun, it always has a deeper meaning. You are insanely talented when it comes to writing, and I can say on behalf of all the girls that your letters/notes make us so happy. Thank you for taking the time to show you care for me and the rest of the girls! I love you so much, and I know you'll do amazing things next year in whatever you do. But first, let's graduate.

Thank you all for making this year so memorable. I love you dawgs.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
