As Christmas break comes to an end and a new semester begins, many new things arise. From forgetting how to "school" and counting down the days to spring break, we quickly realize how less excited we are for the second semester compared to the first. Thousands of thoughts go through our head during the semester, but who better to describe them than Kim Kardashian?
1. Realizing Christmas break has officially ended..
No more late night Netflix binges or parties on Tuesdays (unless you don't have Wednesday classes, right?). No more saying "I'm out of school right now, I don't have to use my brain." No more home cooked meals or pestering siblings. It's time to crack down and get ready for everything this semester has to throw at us.
2. Preparing for the first day of school...
3. Teachers forgetting that syllabus day means syllabus day...
You walk in the first day and bam, hello quiz. Do teachers not remember that we haven't used but half of our brain for the past month? No, we do not know the circumference of the earth or who wrote that ancient poem.. That's why we're here!
4. After the first week...
A week in and we're already praying to God he can give us wisdom and strength to get through the next couple of months. As the papers pile up and the tests become more like a foreign language all we can do is pray our parents aren't expecting anything more than mediocre.
5. Thinking about getting in shape for spring break...
We're planning our spring break plans and remembering that our tiny red bikini from last season fits a little more snug than usual. Therefore, it's time to hit the gym or at least cut back the amount of queso we are inhaling every week.
6. Calculating how much alcohol you can buy with your Christmas money and still survive...
Priorities? $100 on alcohol and $20 for groceries? Of course we'll just eat crackers and cheese or Ramen for the next couple of months if we can stock up for the rest of the fraternity parties.
7. Remembering formals are in a couple months and making lists of eligible dates...
Oh no! That moment where we realize that most formals may land on the same weekend, so we need to pick our date fast! Yet, of course, we have standards. "Not too short. Not too tall. Can't talk to much. Must talk. Do our signs go together? Can he pull off this color? Forget it.. I'm going alone."
8. Giving advice to your friends after the break vs. before..
Somewhere in between the late night talks every night last semester and the texts telling all of your friends how to fix their relationship, how to stalk their ex, what to say to their messy roommate, and what outfit to wear for their crush, you've given up entirely. You're all out of advice and tell them to figure it out alone.
9. It's basketball season...
As football season fades away (bummer, I know), we run full speed into basketball. As if the hot, sweaty guys running around on a basketball court weren't enough to make you want to go this semester, at least remember they have good candy and a great excuse to look cute in front of your classmates.
10. Noticing some people you thought were your friends are no longer around...
Unfortunately, we see this happen all the time. Some of those 'friends' you met at the first party of the year just seem to fade away after the break without any explanation at all. Oh, well. We didn't need them anyway!
11. Yet some things never change...
Although we're getting back into school mode, there are a few things we will not forget to do this semester, Instagram our fun times. Your GPA does not define you but your Instagram followers do, right? So you keep having those fun times and always remember that if you do not capture a photo of your outfit, you never really wore it!
