29 New Semester Resolutions

It's that time of year again. It's time to say goodbye to Winter Break and hello to a new semester. It's time to say goodbye to countless days of Netflix, mom and dad's money, home-cooked meals, your pets, and your very comfy bed. Instead, say hello to a brand new semester and everything that comes with it. Say hello to new classes and all the studying they will bring. Say hello (and goodbye) to all the money you will spend on food, wine, more food and Target runs. Say hello to friends and the new adventures y'all will go on together. And say hello to the opportunity to start over, to wipe the slate clean and begin anew. So because it's a brand new semester, I've decided to compile a list of new semester resolutions (in lieu of a daunting New Year's resolution).

1. Be present.

2. Laugh more.

3. Make new friends.

4. Spend less. Save more.

5. Say no to the fifth Dr Pepper of the day.

6. Call mom and dad more.

7. Stay in touch with old friends.

8. Grow deeper with best friends.

9. Be more focused in class.

As in don't do this.

10. Study before the night before.

11. Be spontaneous.

12. Spend more quality time with God.

13. Call the siblings.

Even if they're annoying, you love them anyway.

14. Talk less.

15. Listen more.

16. Run at least once a week.

I mean, this counts, right?

17. Love more.

18. Fight less.

19. Be passionate.

20. Try a new restaurant.

21. Order something different at a favorite restaurant.

22. Call the grandparents.

23. Pay attention to the news.

24. Spend less time on social media.

25. Become truly wild for WyldLife.

26. Say yes to making memories.

27. But say no if there's a test the next day.

28. Stop going to Taco Bell so much.

No, no you don't.

29. Live life well.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
