Dorm-Friendly Self-Care You Need To Do To Cure End Of Semester Stress

The end of the semester does not need to be the end of your sanity.

Ah, finals week.

It is horrible. I am so sorry you are going through this.

The end of the semester is hard for everyone. This is the end of a chapter and whether you are continuing school next semester or moving on to your next part of life, it's important to take care of yourself during the process. Your mind is probably filled with flash cards, final paper dates, and powerpoint slides for those final presentations.

The most crucial part of the end of every semester is to take care of yourself and your own mental health. If you lose your own sanity, then you are probably not going to end the year the way you would like to anyways. Have no fear, self-care tips are here to help you during this time.

1. Apply a sheet face mask the morning of your final.

Nothing says "I'm going to kill my final" like a shiny new face. Slap on a face mask and get ready to ace that test.

2. Need a study break? Paint your nails instead of scrolling social media.

While we all love a good selfie pic, social media can add up to the stress you may already be feeling. Social media has never been a golden ticket for a clean mental health slate anyways. Skip the digital distractions and give your nails a happy makeover.

3. Do a hair mask after you finish your final paper.

Let the English major tell you after you write your paper, you need to take a few minutes away from it before checking for errors. Once you hit your final sentence, throw on a hair mask, take a shower and then do your final read. If you don't have a Lush nearby to pick up a hair mask, you can do one of these DIYs.

4. Follow a yoga routine on YouTube before bed.

You need a hot minute, or a hot thirty minutes, to let your mind escape from everything going on. Here is one of my favorite series if you need a place to get started.

5. Treat yourself to a movie night.

Most theaters offer $5 movie nights or student discounts and nothing is a better escape than being forced to focus on something else besides homework. No distractions. Just pure enjoyment. And popcorn, if you decide to get some popcorn.

6. Write down the things you've accomplished this year and the goals you have for next year.

We never stop learning and we never stop growing. Acknowledge the things you've accomplished this year and look forward to life after finals week to see what you want to achieve next year.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. I mean, really, what's the point in entering a relationship with someone if you don't know whether or not you're compatible on a very basic level?

Consider these 21 questions to ask in the talking stage when getting to know that new guy or girl you just started talking to:

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
