Why 2016 Is Selena Gomez's Year
Revival Tour

2016 is definitely treating Selena Gomez really well. It's hard going to any social media site without hearing her name being mentioned somewhere. For someone who has been a fan since the beginning, I feel like a proud mom (or daughter) seeing all her success. I'm glad that she took a lot of time to get to know and love herself after all the drama with he-who-must-not-be-named. 2016 is the peak of her "revival era" and I'm glad that I get to see it all play out. When asked if her revival era was inspired by Justin (Bieber)'s comeback, she replied, "No. This is my time. I've deserve this. I earned this. This is all about me."

Revival Tour

Selena is currently on her world tour, "Revival Tour." It started in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Events Center on May 6, 2016 and will end in Guadalajara, Mexico at the Telmex Auditorium on December 18, 2016. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, she said, "I am ready to get back on the road and see my fans in person! This album marks a new and very important chapter in my life. I cannot wait to get on stage and perform this new material." You can tell that she put a lot of energy towards the whole performance and it definitely paid off. Her opening acts include Bea Miller, Charlie Puth, Bahari, DNCE, and Tyler Shaw. Some of her sold out shows include Las Vegas, Fresno, Los Angeles, Sacramento, Quebec City and Guadalajara. Proceeds from the tour also go to funding lupus research.

Endorsements

She is the face of the biggest names in the industry such as Coca-Cola, Louis Vuitton, Verizon, Pantene and Adidas Neo. It seems like all the big companies want Selena to be their spokesperson. I don't blame them. I mean she has proven herself to the world that she is stronger than ever. With so many fans, it is a great marketing strategy to use someone as great as her to be the face of a brand.

Revival Album and Singles

In 2015, Selena released her first album with Interscope Records. It is her best selling album to date. "Good For You", "Same Old Love, "Hands To Myself" and "Kill Em With Kindness" are the four singles thus far from just this album! "Me & The Rhythm" could possibly be the fifth single (off the album) if her label will give the green light. She also features in Charlie Puth's song "We Don't Talk Anymore" on his debut album "Nine Track Mind." Selena is the queen of mid-tempo and influencing singers like Britney Spears.

Instagram

Three years ago, Selena rejoined Instagram after a hiatus. As of July 17, 2016, Selena has 90 million followers, making her the most followed person on Instagram. The two most liked pictures also are her pictures. She has taken over the digital world with her flawless "Sel-fies" and quirky videos. After all the "fat" comments she was receiving, she is now showing off her confident body for all the media to see.

Movie and television appearances

"The Fundamentals of Caring", "Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising", "In Dubious Battle" are movies she stars in that will be released in 2016. She somehow has time to work on an album, act in movies and perform on a world tour. She is for sure a triple threat! She performed on "Saturday Night Live" when Rhonda Rousey hosted. Selena is also an executive producer for the Netflix miniseries "13 Reasons Why."

There are of course many more reasons why Selena is killing the game. But a big part is that she is still the same girl I've been a fan of nearly 10 years ago. You can tell that she's grown up a lot and it isn't easy living with all of this fame. She had a public relationship/breakup and an illness to deal behind the scenes while working on creative projects and posing on the red carpets. She is an inspiration to many people and has a strong fanbase that supports everything she does.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
