Why you should wear your seat belt

In a strange case of events, two loved ones of mine were both recently involved in two, separate car accidents. Fortunately, neither of them were very seriously injured. The reason they were not seriously hurt? They were both wearing their seat belts.

Seat belts save lives. "Click it or ticket." We've all heard one slogan or another about how buckling your seat belt can help save you from getting seriously injured in a car accident; however, there are still those who will not buckle up when they get in the car. In 2014, 21,022 car passengers died in motor vehicle traffic crashes. 53-59% of those people were not wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash. But statistics have shown that wearing your seat belt can save your life. Since the three point seat belt was introduced in the 1970s, car crash fatalities have fallen about 60%.

If you think that not buckling your seat belt is not a big deal, then think about if you would want one of your loved ones to be wearing a seat belt. Life is unpredictable and sometimes the people we love get into accidents. It's something we fear when they leave for work in the morning or travel long distances. We don't ever plan on or expect getting in an accident, they just happen. But you can save yourself and your loved ones a lot of pain if you just wear your seat belt.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
