The weather is beginning to turn. As I start to empty my summer wardrobe and have my parents ship me the big coats, sweaters, turtlenecks, boots, etc., I can’t help but stop and breathe in my favorite season of the year. The dreadful humidity of summer has gone at last, and it’s the perfect medium. No snowfall, just some sun with a cool breeze, and the occasional rainy day.
Pumpkin patches have opened, Halloween stores are up and running, and the pumpkin spice latte is the number-one best seller. If you were a typical American, you probably waited for the first day that “felt like fall” to get your favorite Starbucks drink. All you need to do to feel the holiday spirit is cuddle up in bed and read a book or watch a holiday movie while listening to the rainfall. Homework is suddenly easier to focus on as you sit with your warm coffee in the semi-dark room bundled up in a blanket. The cold makes it easier to focus and makes things such as homework less of an annoying task.
The reason everyone falls in love with fall is due to the excitement and changes it brings. We are excited to break out our cute sweaters and comfortable outfits, we are excited to know that the holidays are just around the corner, our favorite movies (Halloween and Christmas) start to show on ABC Family, our parents begin to make their seasonal favorite feasts for dinner, and their
delicious homemade desserts. The air is swift and cool outside and the rain sounds so peaceful. We can finally cuddle up by the fireplace and read the book we’ve been meaning to. Our Ugg boots that feel like slippers are sociably acceptable to wear again. For some reason, fall is a time of relaxation. It is a time to be around family, friends, and a time to enjoy the upcoming months of holidays.
This is the beginning of the time to get into the holiday spirit. It starts to get cold, which makes us want to bundle up next to the people we care about. We become homebodies and look forward to seeing our family and friends.
So whether you bundle up and read a book, watch a movie with a loved one, go to a pumpkin patch, go apple picking, watch a Halloween movie, etc., start to get into the fall mood. It is the best season of the year and is an exciting time. Don’t keep yourself from falling, for fall is definitely worth falling for.
