Scoring A Job

Don't forget your A-game!

Scoring A Job

If you're very lucky and or born rich, then what's the point of reading this? Possibly entertainment to see what horrid activities the masses have to participate in. If you're like most people, no matter what age you are, you will have to face the daunting experience of job hunting. Well, maybe it's not that nerve-wracking, but it's not the most pleasant experience. The job market is an endless void of unresponsive employers and unread resumes. As the world becomes more populous and ideas run short, the job market will slowly become a more exclusive aspect of society. We must resort to our most cunning states in order to achieve greatness.

If you happen to have connections, such as relatives or family friends who are in the position to offer you a job, then that rocks! Don’t hesitate to explain that you’re ready to commit to their business, and since they know you on a personal basis, it will be easy for them to see your qualities. However, do not use this as an opportunity to get out of having a “real” job with “real” responsibilities. Just because they are your family, does not mean you deserve special treatment or get to do nothing with your time there.

Besides using personal connections, finding jobs online seems to be one of the better approaches. Craigslist is great for finding jobs near where you live. I, personally, really don’t like the websites that you have to make a whole new account and password to search for jobs. I find the simplicity of Craigslist appealing because finding a job is already super stressful without websites asking you for a bunch of arbitrary information. Once you've found a job that'll suit you, contact the employer and get the ball rolling. Better yet, if you know the place of business, go there personally and hand your resume directly to the manager to make a confident statement.

Once you score an interview, don’t stress! You know what you know, and if you’re confident about it, you’ll come off as very knowledgeable about the field. Confidence is key; a strong handshake and eye contact will go a long way! If you’re shy, you should practice talking about yourself to your friends and family before the interview. This will build your confidence, and it’s a great chance to brag to your friends and family!

Just because a job seems unconventional or useless, doesn’t mean you should treat it that way. Look at every job as an opportunity to polish your resume and build upon your skills as an employee. Every job you take is one step closer to your dream job, and hey, it’s also a source of income!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
