Science Says That If You Hate Country Music You Are Most Likely…

Ok so science may or may not have a stance on the validity of your douche-ness (doucheyness?), however, people either enjoy country music, or they don’t. It seems pretty cut and dry when we get right down to it, so why is it so hard to pinpoint exactly why country music either sucks or doesn’t? As an avid country music enthusiast, I of course want to be able to prove that everyone who hates country music is stupid, but in the interest of not losing readers I will refrain from doing so. All though you may be slightly mentally deficient if you don’t enjoy some classic Garth Brooks, but again, that is beside the point. For the answer to this mystery and as to why we either hate or love it, I consulted one of the internet’s greatest sources for resolving disputes, Reddit.

The following is a thread from Reddit titled, “Why Mainstream Country Music Sucks”:

Guy_in_florida:The sh*t today is Nashville Pop. Produced by the same Holly wood slime balls that kicked rock and roll.”

Excuse me, @Guy_in_florida, Hollywood is one word, but thank you for trying.

Solarsavior: I guess I'm getting old. Country music these days just plain sucks. It has no soul. It's written by people with sunshine coming out of their asses rather than people that have lost a few rounds in the great game of life. Now get off my lawn!

@solarsavior, perhaps todays country writer does have sunshine coming out of its ass, all though I never considered that as a reason. Also, what lawn are you referring to?

GiraffeCabbage:You can’t kill the METAL”

@GiraffeCabbage, I do not believe anyone said that we could kill “the” metal? Perhaps you are lost?

GiZiM:As someone who was born and raised in Nashville and still lives here, I can't stand today's country music. Everyone someone finds out I live in Nashville they always ask if I love country.

@GiZiM, that is not really a sufficient answer, and more importantly you sound as though you had a point but then immediately forgot what you were doing and proceeded to then talk about yourself.

Afairjudgement:Garth Brooks should have never happened.

@afairjudgement, sir, how dare you!

JDturner:Most of the artists are not truely singing their lyrics. Real country music is what George Staight and Tim McGraw and other artists that have been around a while sing unlike the up and coming artists. They autotune themselfs and "rap" their songs, its more like trying to sing really fast with a southern accent. This refers to florida georgia line (who literally had nelly in their remix) and jason aldean (did a song with ludacris) and a lot of the new age big names in country music because they are pandering to teenage white city girls who like to wear cowboy boots and a camo hat and call themselfs country girls.

Source: my town is full of these white bitches”

@JDturner, while your grammar is atrocious, I think you are on to something! I can understand why people who hate country music dislike that it has become “country music” if it is simply sung by someone really fast with a southern accent. P.S. you should go back and get your GED.

Ok so, Reddit is obviously not the place to gather scientific data. It seems as though the people who claim to hate country music either are born with an innate hatred for it, or they claim that they can’t stand “fake” country, which is a fair point! Perhaps a better way of analyzing country music taste is by studying those who claim to love it, all though I am not sure that the posts by those individuals would be any more grammatically correct, unfortunately.

Why do you think country music is awesome or terrible? Go ahead and leave it in the comments below!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
