As finals are ending and boxes are being filled, it is clear the school year is coming to an end.
It has been the shortest nine months of my life. As excited as we all are to go home for the summer, there is a little part inside us all who will miss the communal showers, the random running at 3 a.m. and the constant complaining about the food together. We will miss everything about school, but saying goodbye is the hardest part.To my friends:
Thank you for becoming my family. I have not even known you for a year, but I am proud to call you my family. We've made plans to visit each other over the summer and are counting down the days until we are reunited. There is nothing more I want to do than to pack you up in my suitcase and bring you home with me. Thank you for supporting my decision to get ice cream and pizza at midnight. Thank you for all the adventures, memories, laughs, and "candids" you take of me.
To my school:
Yes, it is true. As twisted as it sounds, I will miss the stress of everything. Thank you for constantly challenging me and forcing me to do things outside of my comfort zone. School is something we all love to hate. I love you for allowing me to buy new and cute office supply, but I hate you for the $200 I drop on textbooks. Thank you for the weird conversations I overhear, allowing me to destress with my roommate while recalling it. I've been so used to constantly studying, summer is going to be very surreal. Thank you for making me proud to be an eagle.
To D.C.:
How could I ever miss you? I won't miss the amazing architecture, nor the free museums. All of the independent coffee shops? Thank God I won't have to see you for a whole summer. I definitely won't miss the hustle and bustle of living in the Nation's capital. Getting dressed up to go to an embassy gala? That's exhausting and I need a break. Who likes going on sunset runs on the National Mall anyways? The metro single tracking schedule, without a doubt I will miss you.
The memories made my freshman year are unforgettable. New loves and passions were found and created. I will miss every aspect of these past few months.
While I am home, I am sending all my love to my friends and my new home.
See you in August...
