Song: Sweet Is The Work
Song: With Songs Of Praise
Dieter F. Uchtdorf – We take for granted many things that we shouldn't. We take this attitude towards our gospel blessings. We are truly children of God. Jesus Christ suffered for us and we can be bound to our loved ones for time and all eternity. How is it possible we wouldn't be excited about attending our church services? We need to express gratitude for what the Lord gives us. We should not sleepwalk on the path to discipleship. We need to follow the example of our master. We tread the path of diamonds, but can hardly distinguish them from the pebbles. We should love to share the exciting message of the Plan of Salvation. We should not be afraid to share the truths of the gospel. We all carry fundamental questions of life itself.
1)Where did I come from?
2)Why am I here?
3)What will happen after I die?
We are eternal beings without beginning and without end. We come from the heavenly hordes of the Lord, our God. We agreed to our Heavenly Father's plan. We knew, in the premortal life, that gaining a physical body is paramount to our salvation. We knew we would make mistakes. The Savior sacrificed for us. We should strive with all of the energy in our soul to walk with Christ and Heavenly Father again. God offered us this opportunity and we choose to accept. Our spirits will always be living. Does it not fill our hearts and minds with wonder and awe to contemplate the wonderful Plan of Salvation that our Lord has prepared for us? What shall we give in return for the flood of light and truth God has poured out upon us? We must share with our brothers and sisters. Someday every knee shall bow and every tongue confess. For us, let that day be today.
Song: We Thank Thee, O God, For A Prophet
Robert D. Hales – If I loved you more, would you hurt less? If we loved the Savior more, would we hurt less? We should replace contention with forgiveness. When we are in the service of our fellow beings, we are only in the service of our God. We bear the responsibility of helping others become converted. We cannot do our mortal journey alone. When an opportunity comes to share our thoughts about the gospel we should sit down and talk about it. We should not let it pass by. The spirit will lead us along. God's power to influence us righteously is His love. We love Him because He loved us first. We should set aside time for reading scriptures and praying. Family home evening is a time to share church concepts with our family and we can grow together by holding this each week. The most important work we do in our families is through the Holy Ghost. Above all, don't lose patience and don't give up. We cannot pray away another's agency. We can pray for guidance about when to speak, what to say, and yes, on some occasions, when to be still. If we are suffering deeply with others or alone, we should let the Savior help. We should love one another and if we do this we will not have a mind to injure one another. We will want to serve one another instead. If we love the Savior, we must keep His commandments. He loves us with a perfect love.
Carol F. McConkie – Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. We must pay with a sincere heart and real intent to the Lord. A prayer of faith opens the way to recover blessings. If we expect to receive we must ask, seek, and knock. We pray to our Father in the name of Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Ghost. We must love and serve them. There is a deeply personal relationship between God and His children. Good needs brave sons. A loving God is as close as a prayer. We come unto the Father in the sacred name of Jesus Christ because He is our advocate to the Father. We do not want to take his name in vain. We must desire to pray as he prayed and do as He did. We must know how to pray and hope to receive the answer to our prayer. We must repent, believe, and obey to obtain the blessings of eternity. “Be still and know that I am God.” We must pray with full hearts drawn out to God continually for our welfare and the welfare of others.
Song: Redeemer of Israel
Craig C. Christensen – The battle against the check is not new and now continues even more on the internet. We should not be timid about testifying of the truth of Joseph Smith and the restoration. Joseph Smith was foreordained in eternity to be the prophetic leader of this dispensation. Joseph Smith History 1:15-20. The Lord communicated with Joseph Smith constantly. If any of us lack wisdom we need to ask God because He loves us and will answer us. Reading the Book of Mormon as though we are Joseph Smith learning the truths of it for the first time is a good way to read it. Little children don't need repentance or baptism. They are innocent souls. We will be able to one day see the face of God because Joseph was a prophet. Many things we know and believe Friday can be sideboards because Joseph was a prophet. Joseph Smith was and is the prophet of the restoration.
Juan A. Uceda – Our Father in Heaven listens to our prayers. He will protect us if we ask. We must follow the promptings of the spirit. Our Lord will pay attention to our voices always, but we should strive to do the same no matter how hard it may be. We should always pray from our hearts to the Lord. We must always pray with a sincere heart, with real intent, and exercise faith. We should pray as we see the Lord in our minds. When we pray, are we really praying or just saying prayers? Jesus invites us to pray always. At the very moment we call out to Him, He hears our prayers. He reads our minds and he sees our hearts. He looks on us with love and mercy. He will always listen to us. We must pray as Jesus taught us to pray.
J. Devn Cornish – The Lord will believe in us even when we don't believe in ourselves. We must stop comparing ourselves to others. If we must compare we should compare how we were in the past to how we are now. The Lord will love and correct, but never discourage us.
1)Am I good enough?
2)Am I going to make it?
Our Heavenly Father wants us to return to him. He intends for us to make it. All the Lord expects of us is to try--but we have to really try. We should sincerely repent. If we will sincerely repent God will forgive us, even if we've committed the same sin over and over again. True repentance is never easy. Our repentance must be sincere. We should not rationalize instead of repent. We should not rebel because it will keep us out of Heaven. Because God respects our agency, we cannot be saved without trying. We must pray often and plead for the grace of Jesus Christ.
Song: Take Time To Be Holy
Neal L. Anderson – The story of Daniel and King Nebuchadnezzar. The gathering of Israel is a miracle. It can be thought of as a puzzle--with a mountain of puzzle pieces the middle. We are all pieces of the puzzle and we will help others be able to find their place in the puzzle. We should have a strong desire to share the gospel. Guilt has an important role because it will alert us of what we need to do, but it won't help us act. We must act and remove our guilt. We must be witnesses of God at all times and in all places. We should speak about His life and the incomparable gift He has given us. We must pray often and sincerely to stand as a witness of God. Our words will be carried to another's heart. In places where missionaries have been restricted, it is up to the members to step up to the plate and share the gospel with others. We need to be careful. Our blessings may be given to us in unexpected ways. We must be witnesses of God. We do not come to the table with empty hands--we come with technology and all of the ways to share the gospel that way. The dream is certain and the interpretation true.
