The new Netflix original series Santa Clarita Diet is a hit. If you are looking for a new twist on a comedy look no further than the brand new series starring Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant.
The brand new Netflix original series was released on February 4 and is gaining momentum already. The series is comprised of 10 thirty-minute episodes that are full of laughs. The setting takes place in Santa Clarita, California and starts with the day that the Hammond’s, who are a married couple and also real estate agents, during one of the biggest showings of their career Sheila Hammond, played by Drew Barrymore, dies. Remarkably she comes back to life and has a very specific appetite that includes live meat. Not just any live meat; human meat. Her husband Joel, played by Timothy Olyphant, will help his wife anyway he can. The Hammond’s now have a new hobby. Killing people to feed Sheila. All the while they live in between two police officers in their suburban neighborhood. At the same time, they try to keep their newfound secret along with Sheila’s newfound craving for human flesh under wraps and away from their nosy neighbors. Now, believe me, I know this show sounds ridiculous right from the get-go. With the circumstances and the situation of them living between two cops. I know... it seems very far fetched. Aside from all that nonsense, you need to give this show a try. It is absolutely hilarious. Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant are such a great do in this dark comedy.
Yes, Drew Barrymore is the main character and the whole reason for this new problem in the Hammond’s life but Timothy Olyphant takes the cake when it comes to the comedic relief. For a show to have such an “out there” plot it still finds a way to make you want to watch the next episode. You would think that the comedy and the plot are all just silly but you actually do become intrigued in what is going to happen next. The writer and creator, Victor Fresco, did an excellent job with the written work for the screenplay. As well as the five directors who each took turns to direct select episodes upon their style and vision. Be warned though, there are some graphic images in this series. If you seem to have a weak stomach you might want to take some precautions before watching. If you can get past that I promise you that you will thoroughly enjoy the brand new dark comedy brought to you by Netflix Santa Clarita Diet.
