As your big sis, I promise to love you unconditionally.
I promise to hold you when you cry and to eat ice cream with you while we binge-watch romantic comedies.

As your big sis, I promise to defend you.
I promise to come to your rescue and pick you up anytime you need me.

As your big sis, I promise to be a role model.
However, I also promise to remind you I'm human so that you feel comfortable telling me anything you need to.

As your big sis, I promise to nurture you.
I promise to answer any questions you have and help you when things are too big to solve on your own.

As your big sis, I promise to tell you the truth.
Your growth as a member of this house or in life will be delayed if the rest of your sisters and I lie to you. I will give it to you straight.

As your big sis, I promise to be there for every big thing.
I promise to be there when you're initiated, when you attend your first new member dance when you make me a grand, when you help or host your own event and when you go alum. I promise to always be there.

As your big sis, I promise the small things matter to me too.
If you feel like something may be tiny in the scheme of things, it may be big to you right now. I promise to listen.

As your big sis, I promise to be there for your successes and your defeats.
I promise that I would rather you tell me when you've done wrong then smile and try to pretend through the pain. When I said yes to picking you up, I said yes to every responsibility.

As your big sis, I promise it's an honor you're mine.
I was beyond psyched to receive you as my little, and now I can't wait to start our new journey together. I will brag about you for the rest of time because you'll never get old to me.

As your big sis, I promise to acknowledge that it's easy to get caught up in life.
It's a pact we made as big and little, and a pact we shall keep: it's mostly mine, but also your, responsibility to make sure we make time for one another once the "honeymoon stage" passes. You will always be my little, and I will always try to make time for you.

As your big sis, I promise that you (and your sib(s) if applicable) are the best thing that has happened to me in my membership.
Being a big sis is the purest joy of my time in this sorority. Watching you grow from the first day of recruitment until now is a privilege I never imagined I would receive. When I got the call you were officially mine, I screamed with glee. Don't ever believe that you aren't my favorite part about this organization; you're what keeps me going.

I promise all these things and more, but remember: I'm no psychic and I want to help fix all your problems, so come to me. Tell me when you need me. I love being needed by you, and I can't wait to be your big sister for the rest of our lives.

(Dedicated to my two beautiful little sissies, Emily and Amber.)

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
