Right, left, right, left.
One foot, after the other.
Don't stop. Go faster.
You're better than this, keep pushing.
If running shoes could talk, oh the stories they could tell. The life of a shoe will last through good runs and bad. They see smiles and tears, sunshine and snow. No matter how long we try to keep them clean for, we always end up traipsing them through the mud for those amazing runs on a rainy day. We solve our problems, and the world’s on those long runs, we take out our frustrations by pounding our feet into the pavement, and we argue with ourselves on whether our not to keep going… and the only ones who know, are our running shoes.
One foot after the other, we keep pushing through our doubts. We push through our daily problems, and we use our shoes to help us do those things. They hear us swear, and fight ourselves over all kind of issues. They know what pisses us off when cars do not make room for us, or when our body forgets what running is supposed to feel like. Our shoes have seen us cry from anger and frustration and yet we keep going… one foot after the other.
Don’t stop, go faster. Our shoes hear all of our internal battles about our workouts and life. They feel us slowing down and wanting to stop, and feel us pushing the pace to challenge ourselves. Our shoes experience the heavy steps as our strides go slower, and our minds go weaker; as our confidence grows they can feel our heartbeat pumping through the soles of our feet and are strides getting stronger and faster.
Our running shoes have experienced our promotions, our boy problems, our crazy ex-girlfriends, and the daily issues we face. No matter how hard we run, or how slow our recover walks are, they continue to support us from the ground, up. Our battles leave them exhausted and worn down. But our joys, leave our shoes exhilarated and begging for a few more strides.
The good and the bad are what keep us, and our shoes moving forward in life. As we retire a pair of shoes, we retire a set of problems and a close a chapter in our book of life as well. Our swear words and sweat, our frustrations and happiness are left in the treads of our beloved running shoes. And with each new pair, a new set of adventures awaits… oh, the stories they will tell.
