It was August of 2013 when I ran home to Alpha Delta Pi. Since then, I have been given countless opportunities that have changed my life. For the past two weeks, I have been disaffiliated to take part in another opportunity, helping new girls find their home.
It was hard. It was hard to not promote my chapter and it was hard not seeing my sisters. I'm sure every recruitment counselor can relate.
I couldn't wait 'til bid day, so I could run home to my sisters.
Bid day finally came and it was not a disappointment. All my Gamma Chi girls received a bid from an organization, I watched 40 new Alphas (new ADPi's) receive a bid, and my sisters were waiting for me to come home.
Finally Gamma Chi reveal came, Eminem made my announcement home, and my big was waiting at the front of the group.
In that moment, I felt the sense of sisterhood my organization possesses, I saw my sisters living by our motto, "We Live For Each Other," and I felt the love of a family.
In that moment, I realized exactly why I love that organization so much and why I call it home.
In that moment, I knew that I was beyond blessed.
Everyone runs home once, but I got to run home twice. I got to show everyone just how amazing my sisters are, even if I couldn't recruit. I helped prove the sisterhood that shined so brightly in our recruitment room and I helped bring the new Alphas home to an amazing organization.
I'm glad I was given this experience, but words can't explain how happy I am to be home and with the sisters who have created the women I am today.
