To My Roommate As We Move into Our Apartment

Finally moving off campus is going to be great, and I'm glad I get to do it with you.

When you get assigned a random roommate, the goal is that you end up with a normal person and that the two of you can get along well enough to survive for the year. With my random roommate, we ended up getting along great and lived together for two years in the dorms. When I was thinking about my living arrangements for the fall, I knew that I wanted to live with her off-campus.

In the fall, we went apartment hunting; it was surprisingly more difficult than I thought it would be. Near campus, there are so many different apartments, but the one good thing was that we knew where on campus we wanted to live. We also agreed on the most important parts of an apartment, like location, which made finding a place easier.

After signing a lease, we couldn't wait to move out of the dorm and get into a space that we didn't have to share with other people. The best part of moving out of the dorms was that we wouldn't have to keep sharing a bathroom with a floor of girls. Every time that something would happen that would bother me, I knew that after I survived this year, next year I got to live in an apartment.

Getting everything together for moving in was way more intense than I thought it would be. I knew that we would have a lot of stuff to get before moving in since there are a lot of things that aren't necessary for a dorm that are vital in an apartment. But after figuring out who was going to supply what, the end of the year couldn't come fast enough.

Even though we won't have people down the hall to complain and gossip about together, I'm excited to move into an apartment with my roommate. Living together so far has been great, and I think that it will only get better next year.

Move in day can't come fast enough. I have almost everything that I need for move in, and I can't wait to see my roommate again. In the next year, I hope that everything goes well with our living situation. Even though I didn't see my roommate much last year because we were both super busy, living together again will be great.

Having our own rooms will be great too. Living together in the same room was an adjustment for both of us, and while it was a great living situation, I am ready to have a space that is just mine. It'll be nice to spend time together, but also have the ability to have time alone even when both of us are home.

My random roommate has been a wonderful roommate and an even better friend. I couldn't have asked for a better roommate, and I can't wait to live together in an apartment. We're always on the same page about all the big issues, and even with crazy schedules we still manage to spend time together. This year is going to be great, and I can't wait to be back in Columbus with her.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
