Ron Swanson [Ron Sw•on•sun]:
"The most bad*ss TV character in history. Appears on NBC's "Parks and Recreation" and is known for his deadpan, masculine presence as an ultraconservative parks director for Pawnee, Indiana. A local government official who hates all things government, Ron Swanson sets the bar for manliness." - Urban Dictionary
Recently, Dos Equis announced they were going to find a new "most interesting man in the world." My friend Scott and I believe we have found the perfect candidate. That man is Ron freaking Swanson.
Whenever I find out someone has watched "Parks and Recreation," I find that their favorite character is Ron Swanson. Usually, there's not a specific reason—rather, a million reasons he is their favorite. Ron eats breakfast food religiously, hates vegetables and has a journal for every steak he's devoured. He is every man's role model, whether they know it or not. He owns a cabin simply for silence. Essentially, Ron is the poster-man for America. The parks director has given us memorable quotes, lessons and a reason to eat breakfast for every meal of the day. Here's why I believe Ron is the perfect candidate for "the most interesting man in the world."
1. He is the human equivalent to a heavily-armed tank.
Ron pulled his tooth out with pliers. He punched a man for interrupting Leslie's wedding ceremony. He took a bullet in the face while hunting.
2. He once challenged Michael Jackson to a dance contest and won.
Ron later choreographed "Thriller."
3. He is Miles Davis's hero.
When asked who his hero is, Miles Davis responded simply: Duke Silver.
4. He teaches classes on confidence.
Ron is a confident man. He sticks to his guns and knows his boundaries. Respect.
5. He taught Miley Cyrus how to party.
La da dee da dee, Ron likes to party. He influences everyone around him. If he's having a good time, you're having a good time.
6. He's a man of few words.
Elaborating would require saying too much.
7. He's never had a piece of lettuce in his life.
Ron enjoys the finer things in life, like bacon. Instead of wasting his time and taste buds on grass, he devours meat like a wild bear.
8. His response to everything is "no."
No.
9. He has his own language.
They say it's harder than English.
10. Mount Rushmore wanted to add him to the monument, he politely declined.
The land of the free and the home of Ron Swanson.
(But could you imagine Mount Ronmore.)
11. Bob Knight copied his form of coaching.
Ron is arguably the greatest basketball coach in the history of mankind.
Ron Swanson is one of the rarest species on the planet. These are just a few of the reasons why Ron should be the new Dos Equis "most Interesting Man in the World." Maybe Dos Equis will realize he is their only option. #RonSwansonDosEquis
