The Road Less Traveled: A College Relationship

The stigma about college relationships is all wrong.

The Road Less Traveled: A College Relationship

Why are you in a relationship in college? Why don't you go out and party? How do you have any fun? These are questions I get asked all the time. There is such a stigma that being in a relationship in college is such a terrible thing and you miss out on all the fun. This is a completely false statement. Just because you have a significant other who loves and cares about you does not mean that you can't go out and have fun. Honestly I think it is better that way. You don't have to try to impress anyone because you already have someone who thinks you are beautiful every second of every day. That makes dressing for class a lot easier because leggings and a sweatshirt are acceptable every single day.

Partying is a big part of college life. Everyone is turning 21 and everyone just wants to have a good time. People think that being wild and hooking up is great and it is for some people but not everyone. I really enjoy going out and knowing that I already have my dance partner and someone to buy me drinks. I also know that when I go home at night it is with someone I trust fully and someone who really cares about me. Honestly you just get to go out with your best friend and that makes it even more fun. Just because you are in a relationship does not mean you just sit in your room and watch Netflix together all day every day. Couples like to have fun, too.

Another fantastic thing is that you always have someone there for you. When school just puts you over the edge and you feel like your whole world is falling apart you have someone to calm you down. They are always there to take you to Cookout to get a milkshake at 3 a.m. and tell you everything is going to be okay. You always have a study buddy that will stay in the library with you till who knows when in the morning until you feel ready for your test. Relationships allow you to always have a cheerleader that encourages you to do the best.

As much as people wanna say you should be single through college and get to have fun, having someone to do life with is enough fun for me. I love having someone by my side through every step of this crazy journey. Finding love young is never a bad thing it just means you have more time to make amazing memories together.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
