I think we can all agree that 2016 was a brutal year. With the all the stuff that happened due to the election and many events that happened in our own lives this year, the one thing we didn't need, was all the celebrity deaths. I mean, come on, as if our year wasn't already terrible, some of our favorite celebrities went and died on us. How inconsiderate of them to leave us now, in as troubling a time as this.

1. David Bowie

First off, we lost David Bowie, at the age of 69, on January 10th. He's best known for his musical talent and for his role in "Labyrinth." Long live the Goblin King.

2. Alan Rickman

Then, sadly, we lost Alan Rickman, also at the age of 69, on January 14th. Rickman was best known as, of course, Professor Severus Snape. He also had very well known roles in "Die Hard," "Sweeney Todd," "Galaxy Quest," "Alice in Wonderland" and then the sequel to it, "Robin Hood Prince of Thieves," "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," and much more.

3. Glenn Frey

Then on Jaunary18th, we lost Glenn Frey, co-founder of The Eagles. He helped write the hit "Hotel California" and many other smash hits.

4. Harper Lee

On February 19th, we lost Harper Lee, at the age of 89. She was the author of "To Kill a Mockingbird" and other stories.

5. Doris Roberts

On April 17th, we lost Doris Roberts at the age of 90. She's best known for her role as the overbearing mother on "Everybody Loves Raymond".

6. Prince

On April 24th, we lost Prince, at the age of 57. He was an influential musician with hits including "When Doves Cry" and "Let's Go Crazy."

7. Christina Grimmie

On June 10th, we lost Christina Grimmie at the age of 22. She was a very popular singer/songwriter who was shot and killed at one of her concerts.

8. Anton Yelchin

On June 19th, we lost Anton Yelchin at the age of 27. (Be right back, crying again in the corner.) He was best known for his role as Chekov in the Star Trek movies. He also had roles in "Odd Thomas," "Fright Night," "Smurfs" and many others.

9. Kenny Baker

August 13th, we lost Kenny Baker at the age of 81. He played the legendary role of R2-D2 in "Star Wars." He won fan's hearts without ever showing his face or speaking.

10. Gene Wilder

At the age of 83, we lost Gene Wilder on August 28th. Best known for "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory", "Young Frankenstein", " Blazing Saddles" and much, much more.

11. Carrie Fisher

On December 27th, at the age of 60, we lost Carrie Fisher. She was best known for her role as Princess Leia in "Star Wars." She was also known for her roles in "When Harry Met Sally", "Charlie's Angles: Full Throttle", and much more.

12. Debbie Reynolds

Then the next day, December 28th, we lost Debbie Reynolds (Fisher's mother) at the age of 84. Reynolds was known for her role as the bubbly grandmother in "Halloweentown," "Singing in the Rain" and many other roles.

While we've lost many celebrities (many aren't listed on here and if you want to feel sad, I encourage you to look the rest up), I hope we don't lose as many next year. So 2017, please be kind to us, we're already hanging on by a thread.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
