Before the coronavirus became a pandemic, Hong Kong was rebelling against China for its independence. However, China did not want that and it ordered the police to deal with the protesters and rioters. The police arrested, threatened, and attacked the protestors and rioters. Everything that had happened made Hong Kong looked like it was in ruins. Wikipedia says that the rebellion in Hong Kong has started on March 15, 2019, and is still occurring today. So far, the rebellion in Hong Kong has lasted for fourteen months. The end is not known yet.
Now, the U.S. is doing protests and riots as well. It all began after a white policeman named Derek Chauvin murdered a black man named George Floyd while he was arresting him. The murder was tied to racism and that caused rage in the country. Racism and police brutality have both gone too far at this point in 2020 because they have violated the human rights of black people. The protesters and rioters want to fight against racism and police brutality by honoring George Floyd. They have vandalized some cities in the U.S. like Los Angeles and Center City. The police and National Guard have been trying to stop the protestors and rioters by arresting, threatening, and attacking them. They also put curfews in the cities so that protestors and rioters will not come out and bring more chaos. Despite the police and National Guard's attempts in stopping them, the protestors and rioters are still fighting for human rights in a lot of U.S. cities. Like Hong Kong, the protests and riots are still occurring in the U.S. When they will end and how long they will take are both unknown.
One country fell apart due to riots and protests. Now, another country is falling apart due to the same reasons. Both countries have done riots and protests for a common goal, which is human rights. From the looks of the protests and riots in the U.S., things are more likely to get worse in the U.S. later on.
