I like to write poems. I established that last week. Well, in high school I always entered in the Scholastic Art and Writing competition. Scholastic was the highest circut and the most difficult to place in as kids from all over the country were submitting multiple pieces of art and writing. Placement in this competition eluded me for years until 2010. It was my junior year of high school and I had a piece I was really stoked about. I wrote it right after lunch in advanced algebra (Not as impressive as you think) and never edited it. I sent it in as a rough draft and hoped for the best. Months go by and every day in 9th period, I would ask Ms. Patterson, did Scholastic come back yet? Every day until she told us that the letters had been sent out and that they should be arriving in a few days. I got home the next day with a letter in the mailbox. My mom gave it to me and she waited as I looked at the envleope, slowly the anxiety and excitiment crept over me. Thoughts of last years rejection swirling with this years confidence raged battle on my nerves. I opened the letter, Dear Anthony, ...

My heart stopped as I read the next few lines. "Congratulations! Your poem RIOT! has been..." I lost my mind, and my mother and I hugged as she told me she was proud of me. I Checked the entire house to see if Ashton Kutcher was hiding in there to Punk! me, but he wasn't, I placed and won an award for my writing; and without further ado, I present to you, RIOT!

Riot!

When in doubt
Scream it out!
Prepare the masses!
And INCITE the RIOT!
Raise the REBELLION!
Start the fire!
And start the REVOLUTION!
ASSAULT the rich!
LIBERATE the poor!
FEAR no being!
SPARE no villain!
Shed their BLOOD!
Stand this ground!
Beat them down!
Raise your FLAG!
DEFEND this Statement!
Make your HONOR!
Be the Legend!
STORM the hill!
Fight for FREEDOM!
Act on IMPULSE!
Become the WAR!
Dominate the Press!
DECLARE WAR ON THE ORDINARY!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
