We've all been there. Whether it's applying for a summer internship or an on-campus job, you face the same ridiculous struggles every time. Here's a list of problems that every student will meet at least once, when applying.
1. Applications
Who doesn't love filling out dozens of applications daily? Who doesn't love writing personalized cover letters for every job you apply for? Does anyone else have a mom who makes you send out endless job applications, to make sure you don't sit at home all summer?
2. Age
As you're looking up different jobs most of the applications say college-level student. Then after filling out the entire tedious application. you realize that they are only looking for juniors and seniors. Thanks for putting it in the smallest possible font possible. #blessed.
3. "Experience"
After applying for a million internships that you know you'll never get because of your lack of experience, you eventually look for different waitressing or retail jobs. But these places are all asking for "experience" too -- aka it's a lose-lose situation. How else is a person supposed to gain "experience". when no one wants to take a chance on someone without it?
4. Social Media
It's safe to say that when you're in college you'll be monitoring your social media closely, so nothing too inappropriate pops up. The problem is that companies expect you to have all forms of social media covered. They want you to have a LinkedIn, your own blog, and a million other applications that no one has heard of. Whatever happened to just Facebook and Twitter, and how can we be expected to keep up with everything?
5. Interviews
We've all been in the situation where you think you absolutely nailed an interview, and the interviewer acts like it too. Then you get home and check your email, only to find a rejection letter waiting in your inbox.
Keep your heads up -- a job will eventually come around. If not, there's always McDonald's.
