Things You Can Make In A Rice Cooker

It doesn't have to be JUST rice.

Things You Can Make In A Rice Cooker

Being in college has taught the true meaning of too many cooks in the kitchen. When you share a kitchen with at least 30 other people things become annoying and difficult. Going to the kitchen to cook becomes a stressful time that you never want to put yourself through. But eventually you get tired of microwaving food. So instead I got a rice cooker to solve all those problems. Besides making different kinds of rice you can also make a bunch of different delicious dishes. These are the ones I've tried so far that are delicious. I have an aroma rice cooker so what I know is purely based off of my experience with it.

Chili

I used a pound of ground beef but you can use whatever meat you like. All you do is season the meat, put a little water in the bottom of the cooker and let it run through about a 5 minute steam cycle. Once that finishes turn the meat and put it in for one more 5 minute steam cycle. After that put in all your other ingredients like tomato sauce and paste and let it cook for another 5 minutes. Now you have delicious homemade chili.

Chicken

You can use the same method you used for the chili meat or you can use the steamer rack. Season your chicken and put it on the steamer rack. You can even cook rice underneath if you want. The chicken will give it more flavor. Once it's done you have a full meal. Bonus points if you can, steam vegetables at the same time.

Pasta

This one might be my favorite because it is so easy. All you do it put the water, salt, and the pasta of your choice and turn it on. For angel hair 5 minutes should be good. Everything else is about 7 minutes. You might want to put the rice cooker on top of a towel depending on how much pasta and water you have so it doesn't boil over.

Hard Boiled Eggs and Potatoes

I love eggs and potatoes. All you have to do is peel the potatoes, cut them up, and put them in the water. If you put eggs in the water with it you can hard boil them. Once the potatoes are done you can mash them and put cheese on them and make it delicious.

There are a bunch of other things you can make in the rice cooker you just have to research and try them out. I love my rice cooker and I think they are a great investment. You and your friends can cook in your dorm rooms and never have to go down to the stressful kitchen.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
