Senior Yell Candidate Rhett Kruger

"Yell Kruger" is a slogan know by many on the A&M campus. We've all seen the blue and yellow banners, and we've seen the support shown by fellow Brothers Under Christ member and current yell leader Steven Lanz, members of the Aggie football team, and hundreds of other students. If Rhett is elected yell leader, it will be the second year in a row that a non-reg was chosen. Here, Rhett takes the time to answer a few questions about himself, so that we can all get to know a little bit more about him.

1. When did you know you wanted to go to A&M?

"My decision was made in 1980 when both of my parents enrolled here. They would have let me go anywhere, but to me, there was never a choice of where I was going to go."

2. What has been your favorite memory since starting school?

"My favorite memory was my freshman year at the off-campus bonfire. That's where I met and solidified a lot of the people that mean most to me today.

3. What is your go-to Starbucks order?

"Easy choice. White chocolate mocha. If you answer differently, you must not have ever had one."

4. If you were a superhero, who would you be, and why?

"Superman - someone who can get the job done when needed, but doesn't have to flaunt his strengths."

5. You have complete creative control-- what is your dream date?

"My dream date would be a day trip to Brenham, Texas, for a trip to the Bluebell factory and then a dinner at Kay's Cuisine for the Soul."

6. Do you have a celebrity crush?

"Oh man. Scarlett Johansson."

7. It’s 8:00 on a Tuesday night. What are you most likely doing?

" I'm eating dinner at McCallister's before hearing my man Ben Stuart at Breakaway."

8. On a scale of a longhorn to a yell leader, how redass are you?

"Steven Lanz."

9. In your opinion, what has been the best thing that a previous yell leader has done for A&M or the community?

"I love the way that Steven Lanz has been able to excel in representing the entire student body as a non-reg that holds the position. That kind of representation for over 50,000 students outside of the prestigious Corps of Cadets is needed in my opinion. It has been awesome to see the job he has done."

10. What is the best piece of advice you could give an incoming freshman?

"Get involved, enjoy the privilege of going to one of the best universities in the world, and go to as many sporting events as you can!

11. What is your best pick-up line?

"Want to go on a date?"

12. What is your Favorite A&M tradition?

"Muster. It's something that no other school does. It's an awesome example of what it means to be part of the Aggie family."

13. Describe yourself in 3 words.

"Passionate, loving, and friendly."

14. What is one thing you do better than anyone else?

"Whoop loudly."

15. What is the first thing you would do if elected yell leader?

"I would thank the students that supported me and express, to the best of my abilities, that it could not have been done without them."

Voting beings Thursday, February 25th and ends February 26th. Vote at vote.tamu.edu.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
