The savior of the music industry -- Adele -- is back with "25," the highly-anticipated followup to her 2011 smash, "21," and it does not disappoint. Like everyone else who's listened to the album, Adele has put me through all the feelings (as one would expect from an Adele album). So, what better way to appropriately express those feelings about each song than through Adele gifs.
1. "Hello."
"Hello," the record-smashing lead single from the new album was the perfect choice as the opening track on the album for obvious reasons. Musically, the song picks up where "21" left off and provides us with a not-so-subtle introduction that's sure to increase the productivity of our tear-ducts.
2. "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)."
"Send My Love (To Your New Lover)" is a novelty kiss-off jam. Adele is not having any of her past lover's childishness and makes her point defiantly, telling him "we both know we ain't kids no more."
3. "I Miss You."
The soulful, melodramatic, "I Miss You," is the most haunting track. With its prominent percussion, ghostly backing vocals, and emotional delivery from Adele, it'll send chills up your spine.
4. "When We Were Young."
A nostalgic plea to the one-that-got-away, "When We Were Young" finds Adele somberly reminiscing about a love that was "just like a movie" and "just like a song." Even if you've never had a love of your own, this song is bound to at least make you miss your dog.
Though the album version is great, this live studio version is even better.
5. "Remedy."
A motherly, uplifting ballad, its pretty clear "Remedy" was probably written for Adele's son, Angelo. However, given the projected first week sales of 2.5 million for "25," the song definitely applies to another unintended party: the failing music industry.
6. "Water Under the Bridge."
The dramatic side eye Adele is giving in this gif perfectly captures the sass she's serving on the bombastic "Water Under the Bridge" to make sure her lover knows that her emotions are to be taken seriously.
7. "River Lea."
On a bluesy ode to a river that runs through her hometown of Tottenham, Adele reflects on breaking hearts, but casts the blame on the River Lea.
8. "Love in the Dark."
It seems like Adele is usually the one on the receiving end of heartbreak in her songs, but in "Love in the Dark," she's the one doing the heartbreaking. In fact, her passionate delivery almost makes it feel like we're the ones she's breaking up with.
9. "Million Years Ago."
A song of regret, reflection, and longing, Adele's introspective "Million Years Ago" details her sadness about all the things that have passed her by, and the things she misses as a result of the life she lives now. As the college years race past me, I can certainly relate to this bittersweet ode to growing up.
10. "All I Ask."
The final tear jerker of the album is filled with lyrics like: "It matters how this ends, cause what if I never love again?" and "and since you're the only one that matters, tell me who do I run to?"
Yep, grab that tissue box one more time.
11. "Sweetest Devotion."
Another love song for her son Angelo, "Sweetest Devotion" is filled with many awe-inspiring lyrics and backing audio of Angelo, while serving as an uplifting finale for an album filled with nostalgia and heartbreak.
The final verdict? Though I'm still not quite sure if "25" lives up to its predecessor, Adele delivers an album that will breathe new life into the music industry, make us all weep into our pillows, and crush the hopes and dreams of a number one album for every other artist releasing an album in the next six months.
Case closed.
