This past week, one of music's biggest award shows took place. The Billboard Music Awards has been a staple in the music industry since 1989, and is very prestigious among musicians. This year the awards show was located in Los Angeles and was hosted by Ludacris and Ciara. This year's Billboard Music Awards had many great performances and tributes. The night was also filled with fashion and humor. Along with 3 hours of amazing music from the past and present's top artists, history was made by one star in particular.
The night opened up with all of the stars entering on the 'pink' carpet. Like always there were a lot of breath-taking looks along with some bold and daring ensembles. The following night on E!, there was an episode of Fashion Police that discussed the nights best and worst looking outfits at the Billboard Music Awards. The cast of Fashion Police loved the looks of Ciara, Kesha, and Ariana Grande just to name a few. On the other hand the critics did not enjoy a good amount of outfits as well. One star really took a lot of heat and that was Britney Spears.
While fashion did play a part in the night, the main focus of many fans were the performances! Throughout the whole night there were so many amazing and emotional performances. Many stars from the past and present were able to deliver amazing acts that wowed fellow artists and fans alike. Britney Spears opened up the awards show with an amazing mash up of several of her chart topping hits. Along with Britney Spears artists like Kesha, Ariana Grande, Rihanna, and Celine Dion also took the stage. At the end of the show Madonna took the stage to honor the late great Prince.
The night would not have been complete without the presentation of several huge awards for the artists who have worked so hard. There were two special awards that were presented that night. The recipients were Britney Spears who took home the Millennium Award while Celine Dion took home the Icon Award. There was also one other artist who took home the gold. The Weeknd took home eight awards which is more than any other male artist in the shows history! Some of the other winners include Adele, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, and Drake.
In my opinion, this years Billboard Music Awards was very successful and possibly one of the best in quite some time. I can not wait to see what is in store for next years awards. Hopfully it will be just as iconic as this years was.
