Review Of The 49th Annual Country Music Association Awards

If you missed the Country Music Association (CMA) Award show on November 4th or you just want a recap of Country Music’s “Biggest Night,” you’re in the right place. From all the winners to the best performances to the funniest moments, I’ve got you covered.

First, I’ll start with the hosts. Country music sensations Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley hosted the 49th annual CMA’s, and it was their 8th year in a row hosting together! The two have great chemistry together and their jokes are hilarious. The show started off with them singing about some iconic moments of 2015 thus far, including “McDonald’s has breakfast all day now; Bruce Jenner is a babe now.”

Along the lines of iconic moments, Brad brought up the big breakup of the year, saying that the two both happened to be at the CMA’s that night. Naturally, everyone thought he was alluding to the split between Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton. In classic Brad Paisley character, he made it a joke, showing Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy in the audience. He then said, “Howdy, Blake!” The crowed loved this, and was ready to hear some good old country music.

Country music icon Hank Williams Jr teamed up with Eric Church to start off the line of performances with “Are you Ready for the Country?” off of Williams’ latest album. This song was a very fitting beginning song, if I do say so myself. The night was filled with stellar performances by Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves, and Florida Georgia Line, along with dynamic duets by John Mellnncamp and Keith Urban, Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake, Fall Out Boy and Thomas Rhett, and Brooks and Dunn (yes, they are back together!) and Reba. The Country Music Association also honored country legend Little Jimmy Dickens, who passed away on January 2, 2015 at 94 years old, during the award show.

Now, I’ll get to the part you’ve all been waiting for: the awards!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
