I was very excited for the game "Remember Me" after the first trailer that came out a few years back in 2012. Games that have a futuristic setting will always have a place in my heart, so it was a must that I try this game. "Remember Me" was developed by Dontnod Entertainment and published by Capcom. This game was originally supposed to be a PS3 exclusive known as Adrift; however, the plan was scrapped. The game was only revived when Capcom bought the rights to the game and converted it to a multi-platform title.
Wow, Neo Paris sure looks pretty in the morning.
I finished the game early this morning, and I have to say I was very impressed. I love the main character, Nilin. She starts off with her memories stolen from her, only remembers her name. From there, the player finds out more about her. Nilin’s purpose as a Memory Hunter, aka an Errorist, is to stop the evil organization called The Memorize Corporation from messing with people's memories using a program called Sensen.
Someones about to be in a world of pain right now!
I love the story line, the twists and turns, and the emotional hurt she suffered based on some of her actions. Example: there is a part of the game where she gets some of her memories back and she remembers that during a mission, she caused a man to kill himself by using (one of things I loved about this game) her Memory remix ability. She felt bad for what she did and made me want to play more to see how she was going to redeem herself.
Combat
Nilin's attacks are all customizable to your choosing, so combat won't be the same. As displayed above, you can customize your moves by using the combo lab. The moves that you assign has special abilities, like restore your health, increase the attack, or even extend your combo. However, I felt that Nilin was stiff when fighting enemies with these combos.
The gameplay reminds me of a mixture of "Assassin's Creed" and "Beyond Good and Evil." I did mention that my love for the game was in the memory remixes. It is an ability that she uses to change people's memories to any way she wants it to be. This part of the game plays out like a puzzle and even though they have a goal for you to do in the Remixes, they do not discourage you from trying different outcomes.
Overall, I have to say I really enjoyed the game. If you find this game at a good price, you should pick it up and try it for your self. I have a feeling that this game will be a cult hit and, I hope to see a sequel.
My Score for Remember Me:
7.5/10
