5 Genius Ways To Revamp Your Room Without Draining Your Bank Account

In This Article:

Recently, my sister decided to completely re-do her room on a budget.

She went from having a hot pink, zebra themed room (designed by her 10-year-old self) to a calming blue-gray colored room with a more mature look. The best part? She did it all by herself and didn't spend over $500 to re-do her whole entire room. If you're in the same boat as her and looking to completely change up your room, just keep reading to see how she did it!

1. Repaint your walls

One way to automatically change up your room is to repaint your walls. A way to cut the cost is to do it yourself, like my sister did. Just ask the employees wherever you buy your paint from for tips and help where you need it. My sister managed to repaint her hot pink walls a calming blue in just one coat (primer included), in about two days!

2. Buy a simple, cheap comforter for your bed

Check Amazon for great deals on simple comforters. Go for a solid color, and then dress it up with cool pillows and blankets. For example, my sister bought a white comforter and added a furry gray blanket.

3. Spruce up your bed with fun pillows

Once you have the comforter down, go for some pillows to match the theme or feel you want your room to have. Pillows will honestly make your bed, and room in general, look a lot more put together.

4. Scout out Pinterest for DIY ideas

Channel your inner 2012 self and check out Pinterest for do-it-yourself projects. For example, my sister took an old picture frame and some magnets to make an aesthetically pleasing makeup organizer. If makeup's not your thing, don't worry, because there's a bunch of other DIYs for you to try.

5. Update the pictures in your room

If you're anything like me and haven't really updated your room since middle school, then you probably have a bunch of old photos of you and that girl you used to hang out with in elementary school around your room. A quick way to update your room, and make it feel more mature, is to replace your old pictures with new ones of your friends and family!

Now, get decorating!
