This summer has been wonderful, long, sunny, and fun-filled, but with less than a month left until its solemn end, it’s time to think about returning to college. Lucky for me, I adore my college, so I am psyched to go back. Yes, I’ll miss my family and sleeping in my big comfy bed, but there is so much to look forward to.
1. Friends.
First and foremost, I am overjoyed that the friends that are more like a second family to me will once again be my neighbors. The first day will involve a lot of hugging -- something I am more than OK with.
2. Decorating my room.
Fairy lights like these are a must.
My latest favorite daydream is focused around new decor ideas for my dorm room. Posters, pictures, vibrant pillows, colorful lamps, cute trinkets to stick on my desk, etc. My room will probably look like a rainbow exploded in it, followed by a shower of adorable animals and silky flowers.
3. Starting classes.
I’m not quite ready for the tests and endless hours of studying, but I am certainly excited to start my classes. The learning part is fun, and eventually I’ll get used to the homework part again.
4. Independence.
Something about living on a college campus feels so adult-ish. Using that made up word most likely detracts from any notion of my being an adult but, nevertheless, I love the independence and freedom that comes with college.
5. Not having to drive to hang out with people.
In the blink of an eye, we'll be gathered like this, minus the unrealistic airbrushed model look and the spacious sofa
At home, planning nights out can be difficult with everyone’s crazy schedules, differing preferences and modes of transportation, but at college it’s simple: Oh, you want to have a movie night? Just have to put on some slippers, be there in two.
6. Enjoying the beautiful campus.
Dear summer of 2016, you were amazing -- three-ish months of sun-toasted bliss, which is why saying goodbye will be bittersweet. However, at the same time, I am so ready to dive into another year of college. Plus, with school comes fall, the lovely season of fiery leaves, cozy sweaters, Halloween and hot apple cider. Bring it on!
