New York is known for its amazing food, let's just all admit it. Italian food in Little Italy. Bagels on Long Island. The best ice cream and Italian ices known to mankind all reside in this very place. Here's a look at all the places you better not miss in the Big Apple:

1. Milk Bar

This place is known all over; D.C., NYC, Las Vegas. Wherever you are, this place is a staple to stop at. They have their legendary compost cookies and cereal milk frozen yogurt that will stop anyone in their tracks.

2. Katz's Deli

A staple in NYC is the deli. But nothing quite tops it like Katz's Deli. Probably the most infamous deli in the city, this place certainly does not disappoint. Make sure to try one of their legendary Jewish deli classics.

3. The Spotted Pig

Honestly, might have the best hamburgers I've ever had. There may be some controversy surrounding that, but for a good burger, I would recommend Spotted Pig in an instant.

4. The Butcher's Daughter

The Butcher's Daughter is a plant-based juice bar with morning through evening menus. They pride themselves on having a fresh, organic produce-based food lineup, but even if you aren't into all of that, this cafe is still a spot for some amazing food. The atmosphere tops it all off, as it is an extremely calming and relaxing space with light colors and loads of green plants flowing everywhere. Even for the experience, The Butcher's Daughter is an essential stop.

5. SaraBeth's

This place is on the more expensive side, but a luxury breakfast wouldn't be done right without Sarabeth's. This restaurant is located right around the corner from the legendary Plaza Hotel and right across from Central Park, which makes it a perfect stop on a Big Apple tour. This place is perfect for a trendy breakfast with amazing food.

6. Baked by Melissa

An infamous company, Baked by Melissa is known for their miniature, bite-sized cupcakes that you can only really get in the Tri-State area. With 14 locations all over Manhatten, this cupcake shop really made a name for themselves, and their cupcakes surely don't disappoint. Some locations even have delivery-style takeout windows, with people lined up all around the block just to get some cupcakes. Their most famous is the rainbow cupcake, so if you stop there, I'd order a box of those. Or maybe order one of each, and let me know how they are.

7. Da Nico Ristorante

For a classic Italian restaurant, Da Nico is certainly a staple on any NYC trip. I had discovered this restaurant years ago when I ate there for a relative's birthday dinner, and I instantly fell in love. There's nothing fancy; the food is just simply delicious. Nestled in Little Italy, if not for the food, the atmosphere can do it alone. So many bakeries, Italian carts rolling around the streets and beautiful lights hung up, Little Italy is definitely a place to stop, and if anything, at least stop in and grab their freshly made zeppoles. They'll probably give you some for free.

Hopefully, these 7 recommendations gave you a little insight into the amazing food and atmospheres that New York City has to offer. Next time you're visiting, make sure to try out one of these places, I promise they will never disappoint.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
