It is well known that Virginia Tech has one of the best dining centers in the country. From lobster to cheese fries- you can get it all. However, the tiny town of Blacksburg is no joke when it comes to food. There is something yummy for any set of taste buds. Here are a few places any foodie should hit up in Blacksburg, Va.

1. Cabo Fish Taco

Buffalo Shrimp Tocos- YUM!! This place cannot be beat. Chips + Salsa = AMAZING. There is a wide variety of specialty tacos and quesadillas that would make any mouth water. While this is probably your most expensive meal of the week/month. It is still a great meal for under 20 with a tip. Check out Toco Tuesday, and do yourself a favor, order the Spinach Dip.

2. D.P. Dough

I don't care what anyone says — this is the best place in Blacksburg. Cheap, yummy, and filling. D.P. Dough is the perfect place to feed your 3 a.m. cravings. Open late, this Main Street eat offers a great selection of calzones. Don't forget to add cheese tots and cinnamon sticks!

3. Gobble Cakes

If you love cream cheese frosting, you're in luck! Gobble Cakes offers a daily variety of yummy cupcakes. My personal favorite is the cookies and cream. What a great way to treat yourself after a big test. Remember to grab some for friends!

4. Green's Grill and Sushi Bar

Greens is the only acceptable way to get your sushi fix in Blacksburg. The setting is a casual sit down great for celebrating birthdays (under 21). They even have Taco Tuesday specials!

5. El Rodeo

Nothing much to say about this place. You know if you live here.

6. Benny Marzano's

Pizza lovers unite. Ever imagine eating pizza the size of your head? Well, hit up Benny's. This is probably the most overrated eat in town. However, it never disappoints. The line from 12-2 a.m. is basically ridiculous, but at $5 it is a night out staple. This little shop is a great place for meeting friends, starting the night, ending the night, or a percentage night for your organization. Everyone. Loves. Benny's.

5. The Cellar

This place is a hole-in-the-wall bar at night, but the cheese fries are to die for. Literally. They're amazing, but are probably going to give you a stroke. Loaded with cheese and bacon. This is a plate large enough to share, even though you won't want to.

6. Joe's Diner

If you have the patience to wait in line on weekend mornings, this is hands down the best breakfast place in town. The eggs are like eating little clouds.

7. PK's Bar and Grill

Half off wing bites on Wednesday... is your mouth watering? Order in or carry out this place has your classic American favorites.

8. Carol Lee Donuts

This place is amazing. They only take cash, but they are very worth it. Warm, soft, and yummy.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
