RIP Prince

Many people are grieving due to Prince dying this past week in Minneapolis, Minnesota. On April 15, Prince had a close call on his plane where it had to be emergency landed due to him being unconscious and then rushed to the hospital. The University of Minnesota is even thinking about awarding Prince with an honorary doctorate and were considering this even before his death.

People are still mourning and creating memorials for him. There are many rumors going around about a possible drug overdose despite his previous anti-drug comments. He apparently suffered from severe stage fright and in order to cope with that he used Dilaudid and Fentanyl. According to different publication, he overdosed on these medications. Also according to different publications, there is no known will. According to NBC News, he has one full sister and she stated that there is no known will. She filled out the paperwork to administer of his estate.

I find it hard to believe someone with that much money does not have a will. In property alone he has $27 million. Another aspect of this news article stated that it is suggested that for Prince money was very tight. He was 57 and randomly just died. No one knows why either. The autopsy has not been released to the public yet.

There is talk about Prince having some underlying health condition that the general public was not aware of. We all want to know the real cause of his death. He was just really young just to randomly pass. I mean sure it happens that way once in a while, but not often enough to think twice about the situation.

Many people are very upset and as they should. Prince changed the music world forever. "Purple Rain" and "Stare" are by far some of his tops songs that most people know. Prince has helped many other musicians grow and be free to express themselves. For example, I heard on the radio that Kesha actually broke into his house to give him her demo before she got signed. He did not freak out or anything. He just laughed and took it. How awesome is that?

Personally, I would not have the guts to break into anyone's house especially if they are famous but kudos to Kesha for getting the nerve to do something like break into Prince's house. she was saying how she’s surprised she did not get any in trouble and how cool he was about the situation. She went on to say that if she did that now it probably would not have been okay and that if she was to see him she would give him a big hug. The whole situation could have ended very badly but Prince was just an understanding person and did not want any trouble. Many looked up to him due to how he cared so much for everyone and their wellbeing. Rest in piece Prince, we will miss you greatly.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
