Rest. One word, a simple concept, but something we don’t get enough of. Whether school, work, or sports get in the way we run ourselves until we are ragged and cannot go anymore. It is a horrible trap we fall into and it is slowly killing us. We can’t do this to ourselves. We can’t allow the pursuit of success to ruin our lives.
Success is defined as an accomplishment of a purpose. Many times ambition and the pursuit of success blind us. This blindness causes us to put unnecessary pressure on ourselves and cause us to become extremely stressed out. The pursuit of success causes us to not be able to rest. By rest I do not mean just sleep. Rest is not just physical; it contains mental and emotional components. If you are not rested mentally and emotionally you are more susceptible to thinks such as depression and anxiety. By being more susceptible tot these things, the pursuit of success takes away from quality of life.
Lacking rest also can cause problems in your relationship with God. When you are tired, you tend to see only the bad things in your life. When you can only see the bad things in your life, you begin to think your life is terrible and you begin to doubt God. In this doubt, you begin to experience a wedge forming between you and God, which causes you to become spiritually hungry. This hunger drives you to seek fulfillment in worldly things, which only leads to you being hurt. Being tired will ultimately lead to your destruction, both spiritually and physically.
Rest is so important in becoming who God wants you to be. You have to have rest to achieve what you want to in life. Your rest is so much more important than the success you are chasing. Therefore it is so important for you to take care of yourself physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. IF you don’t, life will destroy you. SO please take care of yourself. Please get the rest you need. Please remember that you can go to the Lord with everything, and he will give you rest. You just have to trust him.
