They rip the grass
from under your bare feet,
make you wonder
whether it'd be greener
if you just sent yourself
to the other side.
They leave you in the muck,
mud filling your splintered
lungs between soundless
yelps.
Flailing, sinking
deeper inside yourself
until you hit the floor
and something shatters.
