Everyone has those days where you just feel lonely. It doesn’t matter how many people you’re surrounded by— you still feel like no one likes you, and you start hating on yourself. Here are a few things to remember during those times:

1. You didn’t do anything wrong.

Yes, there will be times when you feel isolated. And you’ll wonder to yourself what you did wrong. But the answer is nothing. Sometimes you aren’t meant to be in that group and that just gives you the opportunity to find the group that you deserve.

Even when you feel a little isolated from friends and family, you are still loved. Your parent(s) and close friends love you more than you know. When you're not feeling loved, I would recommend you do two things: tell your friends and family what you are feeling and talk to the Unconditional Lover. There is someone that loves you in every circumstance, and His name is Jesus. Even in the loneliest situations, He’s standing right there with you.

2. You are loved.

Your friends and family love you. Way more than you know. There will always be someone who will answer your phone calls and get ice cream with you. Sometimes being alone is okay, but when you feel lonely, make sure you reach out to those who have always been there for you.

3. You deserve some alone time.

You often can get caught up in trying to please everyone. All your efforts are worthwhile but sometimes are not seen. That’s when you need to decide to step back and take time to take care of yourself.

4. You can overcome this.

It’s hard to deal with things by yourself. I get it. And if you truly feel like you have no one to turn to, take a lot of time to yourself. Do what makes you happy to help cope with whatever it is you are dealing with. It gets better.

5. There’s another lonely person out there.

Remember that you’re never alone. One day, you will come across someone who is going through what you went through. You’ll be able to relate to that person and you can then help them through it as well. Everyone has feelings and everyone needs someone to talk to.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
