Tomorrow is the day that I am moving back into my university. As I am about to embark on another wonderful, successful, and crazy year of my college experience I can not only stop but to think for just a moment.
Wow, I am going to be so busy.
That is the first thought that immediately pops right into my mind. As soon as I look through my planner for the first two weeks of the semester, before my classes even start, I am booked down to the hour. I am not joking. Between my sorority schedule, my work schedule for two different jobs, my new classes, going to the gym, all of my meals, when I am going to go grocery shopping, when I am going to have time to sleep, when I will shower, and absolutely everything is planned down to the minute. You might think I am crazy, and I think I am crazy too.
But, I am perfectly content with being busy.
I just went three entire months of working a single summer job where days were laid out to be exactly the same every day. You wake up, you go to a full-time job, and you come home. That would be about the extent of my day, every day, Monday through Friday.
I am so excited to have change.
Growing up in Northern Virginia has always been overall fast paced lifestyle for me. Not only was growing up fast here, attending a university in this area is also fast-paced. I would not want to have it any other way where the days are so spontaneous and different with something new to expect.
I love having my days planned out to the minute, I'm okay with it.
However, with having a very fast-paced lifestyle it is easy to lose track of yourself as a person -- especially between classes, work, extra-curricular activities, your social life, or even time spent with your significant other. It is so important that you take a moment to step back and realize you need to focus on yourself.
Find time for yourself, every day, whether for a few hours, or even 15 minutes.
It is incredibly rewarding to be able to relax and do something that you enjoy, it is almost necessary for your own personal well-being. Going to college is like living with your friends 100 percent of the time, at least that is how I always describe it to my friends back at home. It is so easy to get so caught up in the moment and everything around you that you often forget about yourself.
A few things that you can do to make sure you have time for yourself can be watching your favorite Netflix series, going to the gym (my personal favorite), treating yourself to a shopping trip, laying in your bed and taking a nap, finding time to read your favorite book with a cup of coffee, or even just sitting and scrolling through your social media feed to catch up on everything.
